Job Summary

The Manager, Coupa Product & Platform Services is responsible for the strategic direction, roadmap, governance, solution design, delivery, and operational health of Northern Trust’s Coupa Source-to-Pay platform. This role leads a team of Coupa functional analysts, configuration specialists, and support resources responsible for platform enhancements, production support, integrations, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The role serves as the primary business and technology owner for the Coupa ecosystem, including Sourcing, Contract Lifecycle Management, Supplier Management, Procurement, Invoicing, Reporting, and platform integrations.

This position partners closely with Procurement, Finance, Accounts Payable, Legal, Risk, Technology, and business stakeholders to deliver new capabilities, optimize business processes, improve user experience, and maximize platform value. The Manager is accountable for balancing strategic initiatives, operational priorities, regulatory requirements, and platform stability while ensuring alignment with enterprise procurement objectives.

The role is also responsible for leading day-to-day support operations, developing team capabilities, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring timely delivery of roadmap initiatives and production support activities.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Platform Ownership

  • Own the Coupa product strategy, roadmap, enhancement portfolio, and long-term platform vision.
  • Act as Product Owner for Coupa Source-to-Pay capabilities, including Sourcing, CLM, Supplier Management, Procurement, Invoicing, Approval Workflows, Reporting, and related functionality.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to identify process improvements, automation opportunities, and platform enhancements.
  • Establish and govern demand intake, prioritization, and backlog management processes, ensuring focus on the highest-value business outcomes.
  • Serve as business owner for Coupa-related integrations, including ZIP, PeopleSoft, Coupa Risk Assess (CRA), Workday, and other connected platforms.

Team Leadership & Delivery Management

  • Lead and develop a team of Coupa analysts, developers, and support professionals.
  • Establish team priorities, performance objectives, resource plans, and development goals.
  • Manage delivery of platform enhancements, projects, releases, and production support activities.
  • Ensure appropriate workload balancing across strategic initiatives, operational support, and regulatory commitments.
  • Promote knowledge sharing, documentation standards, and continuous improvement across the team.

Production Support & Operational Excellence

  • Serve as the highest-level escalation point for complex functional, configuration, process, and integration issues.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for incident management, root cause analysis, and problem resolution.
  • Drive reduction of recurring production issues through process improvements, automation, and platform optimization.
  • Monitor platform performance, support metrics, service levels, and user satisfaction.
  • Ensure offshore and vendor support teams operate effectively and meet established service expectations.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Oversee platform governance, security, data quality, controls, and compliance with audit, regulatory, and enterprise standards.
  • Support internal audits, regulatory reviews, and control testing activities.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation, change management, and release governance processes are followed.

Training & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Create and maintain training materials, operational procedures, job aids, and user documentation.
  • Deliver training and knowledge-sharing programs to Procurement, Finance, AP, and business stakeholders.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, technology partners, and Coupa representatives.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on procurement technology strategy, platform capabilities, and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Information Systems, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience supporting procurement, sourcing, contracting, supplier management, or enterprise business systems.
  • 7+ years of hands-on Coupa experience, including solution design, configuration, implementation, and production support.
  • 3+ years of experience leading or managing teams supporting enterprise applications.
  • Strong understanding of Source-to-Pay processes, including Sourcing, Contract Lifecycle Management, Supplier Management, Procurement, Invoicing, and Accounts Payable.
  • Experience managing application support teams, delivery teams, and vendor resources.
  • Experience leading enterprise implementations, platform enhancements, and cross-functional transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities while balancing strategic initiatives and operational support requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
  • Experience working with global teams and supporting business stakeholders across multiple regions.

Salary Range:

$83,100 - 141,300 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
