Your opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager Land Use Strategy, the Land Use Specialist – Planning will be responsible for providing planning and policy advice that aligns Urban Utilities’ Strategic Plans for water and sewerage services and helps to achieve the liveability outcomes of the community and the Urban Utilities Water NetServ Plan as identified through the Integrated Catchment Planning of the sewer system and the Integrated Zone Planning of the water supply system.

As a member of the Servicing Planning Team, you will play an integral role in helping identify opportunities and strategies to help shape our cities and towns. This will be achieved through leveraging industry and government plan and policy making to influence land use planning outcomes. A key element of this role will be building strategic partnerships around land use planning with shareholding Councils. The role will be required to undertake daily duties with a high degree of independence.

You're an experienced planning professional with a passion for shaping sustainable communities. You thrive on building strong partnerships, influencing strategic planning outcomes, and navigating complex land use and infrastructure challenges. With excellent planning and engagement skills and a collaborative approach, you're driven to deliver practical solutions that support growth, enhance customer outcomes, and create lasting value for the communities we serve.

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution and relevant industry knowledge and experience associated to either Economics, Policy, Law, Town Planning, Commerce or Business.

  • Must be recognised by the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) or extensive relevant experience. Substantial general work experience in the water industry

  • Knowledge and understanding of integrated socio-economic, infrastructure and land use planning concepts and processes related to the Water NetServ Plan or local government infrastructure plan.

  • Knowledge and understanding of infrastructure charging framework including the Queensland Planning legislation, regional and local planning schemes.

  • Experience of planning, managing and organizing resources within short / medium timescales within the overall policy framework.
