Short Description
- Pick up and transport clinical specimens, laboratory supplies, and related materials between client locations and the hospital laboratory.
- Ensure proper specimen handling, packaging, temperature control, and transport to maintain specimen integrity and chain of custody.
- Deliver specimens accurately and within established turnaround time requirements.
- Complete required transport logs, documentation, and specimen tracking records.
- Operate hospital vehicles safely and in compliance with all traffic laws and hospital policies.
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and security of assigned vehicle.
- Provide courteous and professional service to physician offices, clinics, nursing facilities, and other outreach clients.
- Report transportation delays, incidents, safety concerns, or specimen issues promptly to laboratory leadership.
- Comply with all applicable HIPAA, OSHA, DOT, infection control, laboratory safety, and hospital requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Experience Required
- Previous courier, healthcare, laboratory, or specimen transport experience.
- Knowledge of specimen handling and transportation requirements.
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
