Description

PURPOSE
This position acts as a North American representative for the Middle East and West Africa (ME/WA) Regional Mission Team, promoting informed partnership with Resonate’s church partners and initiatives in these regions. This position will focus on North American church engagement and administrative coordination. In addition to online engagement with team members and partners, this role holds a commitment to ministry through prayer and North American travel for advocacy.

This position is eligible for hire in the USA or Canada.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following
  1. Assist the Middle East and West Africa (ME/WA) regional leader to support the regional team.

  2. Assist the Regional Leader in onboarding new team members and maintaining a unified team culture across the distributed network.

  3. Foster relationships with CRC congregations, regional classis, and Resonate Local Mission Leaders in North America to promote awareness and partnership with Middle East and West Africa ministries.

  4. Communicate the Middle East and West Africa ministry to CRC members and donors through speaking engagements, written communications, and preaching.

  5. Coordinate Resonate’s ME/WA Church Planting and refugee initiatives with North American congregations. Focus on Diaspora groups and Ethnic Minorities in Gateway Cities, and equip them to engage under-reached groups. 

  6. Help maintain the supporter and communications network, building toward the five-year goal of 100 supporting churches and 2,000 active prayer partners.

  7. Promote and manage the membership-only online platform by recruiting churches and individuals, developing content (prayer updates, stories, resources), and ensuring active engagement within the network.

  8. Support team growth through recruitment, events, and volunteer opportunities that connect North American CRC’s with the ME/WA team’s ministry.

  9. Assist with the annual budgets and strategic plans for both the ME/WA regions, ensuring timely completion and accurate description of metrics and financial reports.

  10. Serve as the primary liaison for reporting grants and additional funding received by the ME/WA regions through matching campaigns and other sources.

  11. Assist with writing, editing, and distributing prayer letters, newsletters, and year-end communications.

  12. Stay up to date on communication from Resonate Leadership and support compliance with Resonate’s policies and standards.

  13. Assist with managing North American-based volunteers engaged in ME/WA ministries and related issues (e.g., CMEP board-volunteer). 

  14. Help facilitate ME/WA regional retreats, planning sessions, and monthly team meetings, ensuring alignment between the ME/WA strategic plans.

  15. Communicate the impact of Resonate Global Mission’s ME/WA ministries through regular updates, presentations, and personal engagement with supporters.

  16. Develop and maintain a network of supporting churches and individuals in North America that provides prayer, care, and financial support sufficient to fully fund this position and its associated ministry expenses.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERTISE:

QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Professing membership in a Christian Reformed congregation, or of a church in communion with the CRCNA, and agreement with the doctrine of the church signified by signing a covenant statement.
  2. Ability to navigate relationships and public representation of ministry in sensitive contexts.
  3. Knowledgeable of the history, culture, and current affairs of the specified region. 
  4. Able to address complex topics with nuance and credibility.
  5. Proven ability to mobilize and inspire churches for global mission partnership through preaching, teaching, and relational engagement with donors and prayer supporters.
  6. Able to provide administrative and logistical coordination for a team operating across various time zones.
  7. Proven ability to work effectively without direct oversight as part of a remote team.
  8. Proven fundraising capacity and willingness to build and sustain a fully funded support network.
  9. Proficient oral and written communication in English. 
  10. Working knowledge of Arabic, Farsi, French, or another regional language is an asset.
  11. Demonstrated respect for the Middle Eastern and West African church, including Coptic Orthodox and Evangelical denominations. 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  1. A bachelor’s degree in intercultural studies, theology, or a related field is required. M.Div. is preferred.
  2. Intermediate experience in cross-cultural ministry or church missions mobilization is required.
  3. Demonstrated experience with CRCNA denomination and classis engagement, or a North American church mobilization for global mission, is an asset. 
  4. Familiarity with Muslim-majority contexts, diaspora ministry, or refugee-serving ministry is an asset.

  • Regular travel throughout the United States, Canada, the Middle East, and West Africa regions.
***Position Stages****
The successful candidate for this position will start as a Missionary in Training before fully transitioning to the Career Missionary role. 

Stage #1 Missionary in Training:
The purpose of this position is to prepare for international service. In this role, the employee will develop language and cultural skills, ministry expertise, and build a network of relationships for prayer, care, and financial support in North America that will enable future ministry. One can expect to remain in this stage for 6 to 18 months, depending on how quickly the support network comes together and their prior background and experience. Typically, this position is a full-time role. The pay range for this position is based on the US or Canadian domestic pay scale.

Stage #2 Career Missionary:
When the missionary is ready to completely assume the duties in their job description, they transition to the Career Missionary role, which is located in their country of service. This position is full-time. The pay range is based on the US or Canadian international pay scale.
