Job Summary:
- The Assistant Manager, Field Accounting is responsible for developing and implementing training programs for accounting operations at various locations, which includes creating training materials and supervising seasonal trainers. This role also involves hiring and managing a seasonal staff, ensuring compliance with accounting policies, and providing ongoing support to location accounting offices. Additionally, the position requires extensive travel throughout the park to assist with daily operations and training initiatives.
- The Location Controllers and Assistant Controllers are responsible for managing the location's accounting operation. In this position, one must ensure accurate reporting of sales revenue, maintain security of the location's monetary assets, and supervise the other location accounting personnel for the winter season.
The Details:Position Type: SeasonalSeason Dates: December 2026 - March 2027Pay: $1,788.00/bi-weekly to $2,036.00/bi-weekly (wage will depend on position)Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities
Assistant Manager, Field Accounting
- Perform all duties toward the goal of providing excellent guest service.
- Travel to all locations within assigned area to meet with staff weekly.
- Audit procedures and documentation to ensure compliance with Xanterra’s accounting standards.
- Assist with the opening and closing of each office.
- Assist in the covering of location accounting shifts, as needed.
- Foster a merit-driven approach by leveraging relevant qualifications and expertise to drive projects and achieve goals.
- Recommend and implement changes to improve the efficiency of department operations.
- Promote company sustainability initiatives by preventing negative impacts to the environment and encouraging best practices.
- Completion of duties assigned by the Manager, Field Accounting. These duties may include research projects, development projects, writing/updating field manuals (including the online manual for Controllers), organization of supplies and equipment, etc.
Location Controller
- Manage accounting staff, including scheduling, training, evaluating performance, and providing guidance
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including daily sales summaries and departmental reports, to the General Accounting Office (GAO) and location departments
- Maintain security and accuracy of cash flow, house bank, corporate assets, and numbered documents
- Enforce adherence to Xanterra accounting policies and procedures across all departments, providing training and assistance as needed
- Handle payroll-related tasks, including confirming hourly employees in Kronos, reporting weekly payroll, and distributing checks
- Communicate and collaborate with GAO, department managers, and Internal Auditor, offering assistance and maintaining confidentiality
- Oversee office supplies management, emergency procedures training, and maintain a professional attitude for optimal guest and employee service
Assistant Location Controller
- Provide accurate and timely daily sales summaries to the Xanterra General Accounting Office (GAO) and relevant location departments
- Assist in managing the accounting staff, including scheduling, training, evaluating performance, coaching, and motivating employees
- Help maintain the accuracy and security of the house bank while managing cash flow effectively
- Ensure strict adherence to Xanterra's accounting policies and procedures by all departments involved in cash handling and accounting duties
- Maintain the security of corporate assets and control all numbered documents at the location
- Provide training and assistance to other department staff regarding money handling and accounting policies as needed
- Communicate with the GAO and other department managers, offering assistance as required
- Perform various administrative tasks, including auditing functions, while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
Qualifications
- Accounting degree and/or related work experience
- Strong communication and people skills
- Supervisory skills
- Motivational, organizational, and time management skills
- Knowledge of general office procedures
- Office machine skills, especially PC experience
- Knowledge of the following PC software: MS Word®, MS Excel®, MS Outlook®, IBM Client Access®
- Knowledge of the following software: Kronos Timekeeping®
- A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is preferred
Physical Requirements include:
- Sitting at a desk for extended periods of time
- Extensive walking, lifting, and transporting of supplies and equipment at times
- Loading company vehicles, moving supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds to and from work stations on location (up to 100 yards)
