Mill Maintenance Superintendent

About the role
Reporting directly to the Sr. Mill Manager, the Mill Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for leading all surface maintenance activities and ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of site assets. This role provides strong, visible leadership to a multidisciplinary team of supervisors, tradespeople, and contractors, fostering a safety-first culture while driving performance in operational efficiency, cost management, quality, employee engagement, and environmental stewardship.
The Superintendent serves as the site leader for maintenance strategy, workflow optimization, planning, scheduling, and equipment reliability. Accountable for the maintenance of all mechanical and electrical assets, this position oversees the development, implementation, and control of maintenance programs and procedures, including preventive and predictive maintenance, inspection and lubrication programs, budgeting and cost control, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and workplace safety. The role is also responsible for the selection, management, and oversight of external contractors to ensure the safe and timely execution of maintenance work and small capital projects.
In addition, the Mill Maintenance Superintendent plays a critical role in driving continuous improvement initiatives across both maintenance and production operations. By leveraging best practices and data-driven decision-making, the incumbent identifies opportunities to enhance asset performance, improve reliability, and optimize operational processes.
A key aspect of the position is the development of people and teams. The Superintendent provides coaching, mentorship, and support to maintenance supervisors, trades personnel, and contractors, fostering a collaborative and accountable work environment. By recognizing and leveraging individual and team strengths, the role helps build organizational capability, develop future leaders, and ensure the sustained success of the maintenance function.
What will you do?
Maintenance Management - Coordinates and directs the work of Surface Maintenance Group.
Work with the Planning and Scheduling team to establish daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance goals and deliver clear updates and reports to stakeholders on progress, issues, and corrective actions.
Provide input into Capital and Maintenance budgets and manage expenditures within approved limits.
Coordinate with warehouse and procurement teams to align inventory with maintenance needs.
Capital Management - Define, prioritize, and coordinate work related to Capital expenditures.
Coordinate Continuous Improvement Efforts.
Review and approve purchases related to the Mill and Surface Maintenance budgets.
Providing guidance and development opportunities to support team growth.
Delivering timely, constructive feedback, including recognition and performance coaching.
Driving engagement by connecting individual contributions to Mosaic’s vision and objectives.
Addressing performance issues promptly and professionally.
Enforcing maintenance workflow practices (planning & scheduling) and holding teams accountable to standards.

What do you need for this role?
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or Technical Diploma, Journeyperson Certification, or 3–5 years of extensive previous experience in a similar role background.
5–7+ years of previous supervisory experience.
Minimum 7-10+ years Industrial experience.
Team orientated attitude and Leadership Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to lead and develop teams.
High level demonstrated in written and verbal communication.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with MS Office, SAP S/4HANA, and other relevant software tools.
Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of mechanical systems, electrical distribution and equipment used in an industrial mining operation.
Employment is subject to successfully completing Mosaic's pre-employment checks including criminal, drug, and alcohol testing.
Must be authorized to work in Canada.
