Job Summary:
The Internal Audit, Process Management, Export Control, Legal and Statutory Risk and Compliance Specialist role at Carl Zeiss India is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management processes, and governance practices. This position will involve conducting audits, analyzing business processes, and recommending improvements to enhance operational efficiency and compliance with regulatory standards and ensuring compliance with all applicable export control laws and regulations. This role will involve assessing legal risks associated with international trade, developing compliance programs, and providing guidance on statutory requirements to mitigate risks. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in export control regulations, legal frameworks, and risk management.
Key Responsibilities:
Audit Planning and Execution:
Develop annual audit plans based on risk assessments.
Conduct audits in accordance with established guidelines and methodologies.
Prepare detailed audit reports outlining findings, recommendations, and action plans.
Process Evaluation:
Analyze existing business processes to identify inefficiencies or areas for improvement.
Collaborate with various departments to design and implement process enhancements.
Monitor the effectiveness of implemented changes through follow-up audits.
Risk Management:
Assess risks associated with business operations and provide insights to mitigate them.
Work closely with management to ensure that risk management strategies are effectively integrated into business processes.
Compliance Monitoring:
Ensure adherence to internal policies as well as external regulations.
Conduct compliance audits to verify that all departments are following legal requirements.
Reporting and Communication:
Present audit findings to senior management and stakeholders.
Facilitate discussions on audit results and recommendations for improvement.
Maintain open communication channels with all levels of staff regarding audit processes.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay updated on industry best practices in internal auditing and process management.
Participate in training sessions to enhance skills relevant to the role.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the organization by promoting awareness of internal controls.
Export Control Compliance:
Develop, implement, and maintain export control policies and procedures in accordance with national and international regulations.
Conduct regular audits of export activities to ensure compliance with relevant laws such as the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Provide training to employees on export control compliance requirements.
Legal Risk Assessment:
Identify potential legal risks associated with business operations in various jurisdictions.
Conduct thorough assessments of contracts, agreements, and transactions to ensure compliance with legal standards.
Collaborate with legal counsel to address complex legal issues related to exports.
Statutory Compliance:
Monitor changes in laws and regulations that may impact the company’s operations.
Ensure timely filing of necessary documentation with government agencies related to exports.
Maintain accurate records of all compliance-related activities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with various departments including Sales, Operations, and Legal to ensure cohesive adherence to compliance standards.
Serve as a point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding export control inquiries.
Reporting & Documentation:
Prepare reports on compliance status for senior management.
Document all compliance activities thoroughly for audit purposes.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay updated on industry best practices regarding export controls and statutory compliance.
Recommend improvements to existing processes based on regulatory changes or operational needs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Law, International Relations, Business Administration or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in export control compliance or legal risk management within an international business environment.
Strong understanding of relevant export regulations (e.g., EAR, ITAR) and statutory requirements.
Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
Strong communication skills both written and verbal; ability to convey complex information clearly.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with compliance software is a plus.
