Summary:

Provide care to adult or pediatric/ congenital patients undergoing cardiac surgical procedures in the Operating Room, assisting the team in maintaining a safe and sterile environment, and serves as the patient’s advocate during the intraoperative phase of care.

Responsibilities:

Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires.Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources. Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.Evaluates learning needs of the patient and family; provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.Maintains requirements of Clinical Ladder.Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including disposition, referral, spiritual and psychosocial support needs.

The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job. Required Work Experience: Minimum of one (1) year RN experience required. Other Information: Two (2) years of recent RN experience preferred. One (1) year of Cardiovascular operating room experience preferred. BSN preferred. National Certification in area of clinical specialty preferred.
