Description
Our client is a well-established heavy civil contractor specializing in large-scale infrastructure projects throughout Texas. They are seeking a Project Engineer to support operations on a major project in the Houston area throughout the week. This role is based out of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex but requires travel to Houston for the remainder of the project.
The company provides company-paid lodging, meals, a company truck, and a gas card while working away from home.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated construction professional looking to gain hands-on experience on impactful infrastructure projects while working alongside experienced project managers and field leadership.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with day-to-day project execution.
- Prepare and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and field crews.
- Monitor project schedules and help ensure milestones are achieved.
- Review plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Assist with quantity tracking, cost control, forecasting, and reporting.
- Support procurement activities and material deliveries.
- Participate in project meetings and maintain accurate meeting minutes.
- Ensure project documentation is complete and organized.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture on all job sites.
- Build strong working relationships with owners, engineers, inspectors, and project stakeholders.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of construction experience (internships and co-ops considered).
- Experience with heavy civil projects preferred, including:
- Highways
- Bridges
- Underground utilities
- Earthwork
- Site development
- Concrete structures
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Bluebeam, Procore, HCSS, or Primavera P6 is a plus.
- Willingness to travel and work on projects throughout Texas.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $70,000 – $95,000
