Health Communications Specialist
Georgetown University- Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Prevention | Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center
Location: SE Washington, DC
The Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Prevention is looking for a dynamic and creative Health Communications Specialist to support our mission in addressing four of the most prevalent types of cancer affecting underserved communities in DC: breast, colorectal, lung, and prostate cancers.
The Health Communications Specialist will develop culturally sensitive educational and outreach materials for cancer prevention, community outreach, and other health initiatives. Working closely with researchers, community partners, and program staff, the specialist will translate technical and scientific information into easily digestible and accessible content for diverse audiences. The role will oversee social media and digital outreach campaigns designed to raise awareness of emerging health issues and promote community engagement, ultimately contributing to efforts to reduce the cancer burden.
The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator with experience in graphic design, social media management, marketing, and health.
Key Responsibilities
Design, author, and help distribute the quarterly newsletter, which focuses on cancer prevention, screening, and general health information.
Manage the center's WordPress website, ensuring timely updates, blog posts, and accurate content highlighting community outreach efforts, clinical trials, and cancer research.
Oversee digital content, including images and videos from outreach events, organizing and utilizing assets for newsletters, social media, and marketing efforts.
Develop strategic outreach content, including promotional and educational materials, that elevate community voices and expand program reach.
Coordinate with content experts and researchers to create evidence-based educational resources and study materials supporting research and community education initiatives.
Manage all social media accounts and develop social media marketing campaigns aligned with cancer awareness months and timely health observances to promote cancer prevention, screening, and wellness.
Requirements and Qualifications
Master’s degree in Communications, Graphic Design,Public Health (CHES certification preferred).
Proficiency in Adobe Suite applications, Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, and Canva.
Experience with WordPress and website content management.
Ability to manage and organize digital content and marketing materials.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of social media and marketing tools.

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$44,022.00 - $73,406.80Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
