The Project Accountant is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing accounting-related projects to ensure successful completion within established timelines, budgets, and regulatoryrequirements. This role provides financial oversight, reporting, and compliance support for capital
projects, customer-funded initiatives, and grant-funded programs. Working closely with project
managers and stakeholders across the organization, this role monitors project activity, tracks
expenditures against approved budgets and estimates, and ensures financial transactions are
accurately recorded and reported in accordance with state policies, regulatory requirements, and
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). In addition, this position serves as a key liaison
between Accounting, Finance, Operations, and other departments to support process improvements,
system implementations, and strategic initiatives.
Essential job functions include, but are not limited to:
• Lead and manage accounting projects from initiation through completion.
• Develop project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocations.
• Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Ensure project activities comply with GASB and FERC Title 18 accounting.
• Monitor activity and track expenses against project budgets
• Prepare routine and ad hoc journal entries related to all aspects of GRDA’s accounting
• Monitor project progress and provide regular status updates
• Serve as liaison to field personnel regarding accounting projects and transaction reporting.
• Responsible for the maintenance of and preparation of internal project reporting used by
management.
• Assists the procurement group with project assignments and purchase orders.
• Compiles information for internal and external auditors.
• Prepare project documentation, reports, and presentations for leadership.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualities
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, ASAP Utilities, etc.).
• Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with outstanding customer service techniques.
• Strong knowledge of Governmental Accounting Standards (GASB).
• Demonstrated knowledge of electric utility accounting including FERC and GASB accounting
rules.
• Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Education, Training, Experience
• Minimum of bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required. Equivalent experience
considered.
• 5+ years experience in accounting preferably in the electric utility industry.
• Experienced in Microsoft D365 Finance and Operations, especially the Projects module.
• Experience in ERP system, preferably Microsoft Dynamics.
• Experience with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Title 18 Chart of Accounts,
preferred.
• Experience in financial reporting, preferred.
Certificates, Registrations, Licenses:
• Valid Oklahoma driver’s license, or the ability to convert within 30 days for those with an out of
state driver’s license that are an Oklahoma resident.
Physical/Mental Requirements & Working Conditions:
• Work is primarily performed in an office environment.

• Position is located at the Grand River Energy Center in Chouteau, Oklahoma.
