Credit & Collections Rep 1

POSITION SUMMARY:  Develops relationships with customers, applies credit policies and pursues payment collection (including legal resources) with a commercial collections work environment

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Ensure that the corporate credit policies and procedures are adhered to.
2. Perform collections activities for accounts within a specified portfolio.
3. Update credit files for existing customers and process new credit applications.
4. Research and resolve short pays and deductions.
5. Monitor credit and collection status of assigned customers and set appropriate credit limits.
6. Determine release of orders based on customer credit status.
7. Communicate effectively with salespeople regarding customer status and relationship.
8. Analyze contracts and purchase orders for project scope, legal terms & conditions in compliance with corporate directive.
9. Customer service and related management skills requiring periodic joint sales calls with Hawthorne’s sales team.
10. Resolve customer disputes and collection issues timely.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

1. Associates/Bachelors in Business Administration or equivalent; and/or three to ten years related commercial credit experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Strong customer focus and relationship building skills
3. Ability to read and evaluate financial information as it relates to credit decisions
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
5. Desire for quality and continuous improvement within a high paced work environment.
6. Technical competency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
7. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
8. Attention to detail with strong organizational skills
9. Strong written and verbal communication skills
10. Customer service and training skills requiring the ability to train and team build.
11. Must have a valid California Class C Drivers License.
12. Knowledge of mechanics lien law and public/private job rights strongly preferred

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Walking and moving about on foot often up and down stairs.
2. Handling: Seizes, helps or works with hands.
3. Lifting: Raises or lowers miscellaneous paperwork.
4. Reaching: Extends hands and arms in any direction.
5. Stooping: Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist.
6. Standing: Remains in standing position If required to perform various functions of the job.
7. Vision: Read paperwork, employment files and records on the computer.
8. Talking: Communications by phone and in person.
9. Sitting: Sits at desk.  Sits for long periods of time.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL:          

1. Noise: Works in conditions with constant or intermittent noise.
2. Temp/Weather: Works in an office environment.
