Job Description
As a Youth Facility Security Officer - Badge Intake in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Allied Universal officer at a government juvenile services location, you will manage access points, verify credentials, monitor entry activity, and conduct routine patrols to help deter incidents. You will maintain a professional presence, communicate clearly with staff and visitors, and support a caring, orderly environment. - Provide customer service to staff, visitors, residents, and/or contractors by carrying out site-specific procedures, access-control policies, and emergency response activities at a government juvenile services location.
- Monitor access points and verify authorization for entry, maintaining visitor logs, issuing credentials as assigned, and directing individuals according to facility procedures.
- Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, notifying appropriate personnel and documenting activities in accordance with site policies.
- Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned access points, building areas, and perimeter locations to help identify unauthorized access, policy concerns, and/or unusual activity.
- Prepare accurate reports and maintain required records related to access-control activity, incidents, visitor management, and shift observations.
Minimum Requirements:
- A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
- At least 6 months of security-related experience is required.
- X-ray screening experience is preferred.
- Access control and badge experience is preferred.
- Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
