Description
We are the movers of the world and the makers of the future. We get up every day, roll up our sleeves and build a better world -- together. At Ford, we’re all a part of something bigger than ourselves. What will you make today?
As part of our Manufacturing team, you’ll help build the world-class, state-of-the-art smart vehicles we're known for. In our plants around the world, we’re constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our efficiency. You'll get the satisfaction of making great products people use and love.
In this position...
The MOS Implementation Leader is a Leadership Level 6 (LL6) site-based role responsible for driving full deployment and sustainment of the Global Maintenance Operating System (GMOS) across an entire assembly plant, reporting directly to the Plant Manager. This role owns MOS implementation across all five business units on site (Body Construction, Paint, General Assembly, Stamping, and Powertrain/Chassis, or the equivalent site-specific unit structure), ensuring one consistent maintenance strategy, one Maximo standard, and one reliability culture across the entire facility.
This role is the single point of accountability for translating enterprise GMOS strategy into daily execution on the plant floor — aligning critical spare parts management, Maximo utilization, PM plan optimization, predictive maintenance deployment, and AI-enabled reliability tools into a unified site roadmap. The MOS Implementation Leader also owns the training and capability plan for both salaried reliability engineers and hourly skilled trades, ensuring the workforce has the skills required to sustain the transformation long after initial deployment.
What you'll do...
Serve as the site-level owner of MOS implementation, reporting directly to the Plant Manager and coordinating deployment across all five plant business units, to include:
- Lead end-to-end MOS implementation across the total site, standardizing maintenance processes, KPIs, and governance rhythms across all five business units
- Align and standardize critical spare parts strategy across business units, including criticality ranking, min/max stocking levels, storeroom organization, and parts availability tracking in Maximo
- Own site-wide Maximo administration and utilization standards, driving consistent work order execution, data integrity, PM compliance tracking, and reporting across all units
- Lead optimization of PM plans across the site, eliminating redundant or low-value tasks, closing coverage gaps, and right-sizing PM frequency and scope based on failure history and criticality
- Drive implementation of predictive maintenance (PdM) strategies (vibration analysis, oil analysis, infrared thermography, ultrasound, motor current signature analysis) to shift the site from reactive/preventive to condition-based maintenance
- Deploy AI-enabled reliability and uptime tools (anomaly detection, failure prediction models, computer vision, IIoT sensor analytics) in partnership with corporate GMOS and digital teams, tailoring pilots and rollouts to plant equipment and processes
- Build and lead the site training and capability plan for salaried reliability engineers and hourly skilled trades, covering Maximo proficiency, PdM technologies, RCA/FRACAS discipline, and AI tool adoption
- Establish and track site-level reliability KPIs (Equipment Availability, MTBF/MTTR, PM compliance, backlog health, spares fill rate) and report progress directly to the Plant Manager and plant leadership team
- Lead structured Root Cause Analysis (RCA), FRACAS discipline, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for chronic and high-impact downtime events across all business units
- Partner with corporate GMOS Strategists (Maximo/PM Infrastructure, IIoT/M, MOS Data & Analytics) to bring enterprise standards, tools, and best practices into the plant
- Facilitate Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), and Bus Tour-style events on site to accelerate maturity in targeted business units
- Manage the site MOS implementation roadmap, milestones, and maturity scorecard, escalating resource or systemic barriers to the Plant Manager as needed
You'll have...
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Industrial Technology, or related technical field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- 5 or more years of progressive experience in manufacturing maintenance, reliability engineering, or operational excellence
- 3 or more years of experience leading Root Cause Analysis, FRACAS, or FMEA-based problem solving in a manufacturing environment
- Validated experience managing teams
- Demonstrated experience using IBM Maximo or an equivalent Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including PM plan development and spare parts management
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams or initiatives spanning multiple departments or business units within a single site
Even better, you'll have....
- Tenure working or assisting in the start-up of a large facility (>5MM sq feet)
- Demonstrated experience working with or alongside union personnel
- Past experience in an automotive manufacturing environment
