The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Work Controller to join an established energy and utilities operation in the Channel Islands.
The Work Controller will play a key role in developing and coordinating network operational work plans, ensuring planned and corrective work is delivered efficiently and safely across operational teams.
Working closely with the Network Operations Manager, Network Lead and Utility Engineer, you will help ensure weekly, monthly and annual work programmes are effectively planned, communicated and delivered in line with the organisation's Asset Management Plan and required customer service levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Optimise the use of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) to ensure planned preventative and corrective maintenance is delivered effectively.
- Develop and deploy weekly, monthly and annual operational work plans.
- Coordinate and communicate operational work plans to relevant stakeholders, ensuring information is available in a timely manner to support safe and effective operations.
- Support the assessment and improvement of operating procedures and safe working practices.
- Coordinate communication between operational teams and supporting functions including Finance, Procurement, Stores and Administration.
- Administer the training plan and competency matrix for network operational teams.
- Maintain document control and coordinate the communication of routine and non-routine operational procedures.
- Support engineering and operational teams with materials, parts and contractor purchase orders required to deliver the Asset Management Plan.
- Maintain effective communication between operational and engineering teams regarding work plans.
- Support the wider business in achieving operational and strategic objectives.
- Assist with the optimisation of GIS, CMMS and other asset information systems.
- Prepare and submit agreed operational performance reports.
- Analyse operational data and support continuous improvement across operational teams.
About You
We are looking for someone who is highly organised and comfortable coordinating operational activity across multiple teams.
You should have experience working within an asset-intensive, network, utilities, engineering or maintenance environment, with the ability to manage competing priorities and ensure work is planned and communicated effectively.
Experience with CMMS, GIS, asset management systems, operational planning, document control and performance reporting would be highly relevant.
What You'll Bring
- Experience in operational work planning, scheduling, coordination or a similar role.
- Experience within utilities, energy, engineering, infrastructure or a comparable operational environment.
- Familiarity with CMMS and/or GIS systems.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Ability to analyse operational information and produce clear performance reports.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- A proactive approach to identifying opportunities for operational improvement.
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety.
- Ability to work collaboratively across operational and support functions.
