Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ocean Freight Pricing & Cost Control
Check, compare, negotiate, and secure competitive ocean freight rates from shipping lines, co-loaders, and other service providers to achieve appropriate cost and margin control. - Rate & Trade Lane Management
Maintain and update ocean freight rates, surcharges, free time, routing, transit time, and service conditions across key trade lanes. Understand the strengths, weaknesses, and service coverage of each shipping line. - Quotation Management
Prepare and issue accurate and competitive quotations for Sales, customers, overseas agents, and business partners within the required timeline. - Pricing Strategy & Market Analysis
Monitor freight market trends, rate movements, peak seasons, space availability, and carrier strategies to support pricing decisions and business opportunities. - Sales Support
Work closely with the Sales team to provide pricing solutions, routing options, cost analysis, and alternative solutions that improve win rates and profitability. - Overseas Agent Coordination
Communicate and coordinate with overseas agents regarding rates, routing, local charges, service requirements, and customer inquiries. - Operations Coordination
Coordinate with Operations, Customer Service, and related teams to resolve pricing, shipment, routing, and service-related issues efficiently. - Margin & Profitability Control
Review quotation costs and selling rates to ensure appropriate GP/margin according to company pricing policies and business objectives. - Customer & Inquiry Management
Handle and respond to ocean freight inquiries professionally and within agreed service timelines, including special requests, urgent quotations, and complex shipments. - Pricing Database & Documentation
Ensure pricing information, rate sheets, quotation records, and supporting documents are accurate, updated, and systematically maintained. - Problem Solving & Escalation
Analyze complex pricing or operational issues and provide practical solutions. Escalate critical cost, service, or commercial issues to management when necessary. - Team Support & Knowledge Sharing
Support junior Pricing team members, share market knowledge, and help improve pricing processes, tools, and working standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Business, Business Administration, or related fields.
- 3–8 years of experience in Freight Forwarding / Ocean Freight Pricing.
- Strong knowledge of shipping lines, trade lanes, routing, service types, and the strengths of each carrier.
- Strong understanding of Ocean Freight, Incoterms® 2020, surcharges, local charges, and related shipping costs.
- Experienced in negotiating rates with shipping lines, co-loaders, overseas agents, and service providers.
- Experienced in working closely with Sales, Customer Service, Operations, and overseas agents.
- Ability to analyze freight costs, selling rates, GP, and overall profitability.
- Strong commercial mindset with the ability to develop and implement pricing and sales support strategies.
- Good negotiation, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Good command of English, especially for communication with overseas agents and international partners.
- Able to work under pressure, manage multiple quotations, and meet tight deadlines.
