Description
Construction Management Intern – Commercial Interiors
Austin, TX – Year-round internship, flexible start date
Who We Are
United Contractor Services, LLC is one of the largest and fastest-growing specialty subcontractors in North America and a Top 50 Walls and Ceilings Contractor in the U.S. We self-perform metal framing, drywall, acoustical ceilings, EIFS, stucco, painting, and Division 8 and 10 specialties for leading general contractors from regional offices across the country. We hire people with integrity in every part of their lives who care about what they do. We build relationships, not just projects!
About the Internship
This internship is for construction management, engineering, and business students who want to see how a specialty subcontractor actually wins, plans, and builds commercial work. You'll work alongside our project managers, assistant project managers, estimators, and superintendents on live projects. You'll be doing real tasks that contribute to real jobs, not making coffee runs. The internship runs year-round with a flexible start date. During the school year, we'll build your hours around your class schedule, ideally 20 or more hours per week. During winter and summer breaks, you can work up to 40 hours per week.
What You'll Work On
- Estimating: Help with quantity takeoffs in On-Screen Takeoff, review bid documents, and see how a bid gets built and priced
- Project management: Help prepare and track submittals and RFIs in Procore, and support change order and project documentation
- Drawings and specs: Learn to read architectural drawings, wall types, and reflected ceiling plans, and mark up sets in Bluebeam
- Field time: Walk jobsites with our superintendents, sit in on coordination meetings, and see how framing, drywall, and ceilings are installed and inspected
- Scheduling and cost: Get exposure to look-ahead schedules, job cost tracking, and how a subcontractor manages labor and material on a project
Where You'll See Our Work
Our crews build out commercial interiors in a wide range of building types, including office buildings, multifamily and high-rise residential, retail and shopping centers, hospitality, industrial and warehouse facilities, and federal and military projects.
