 POSITION SUMMARY: The Site Coordinator of Special Education supports the efficient and compliant operation of the K-4 SPPS Program by providing comprehensive administrative, organizational, and technical assistance. This position coordinates daily workflows, ensures timely completion of required documentation, and supports staff in meeting regulatory requirements and mandated timelines. The Administrative Assistant plays a key role in handling tasks, such as record-keeping, data management, scheduling, and communication.  



POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

- Assist with the day-to-day operations and support services necessary to ensure effective special education programming 

- Coordinate the efforts of special education staff in areas of compliance, regulatory requirements, and mandated timelines

- Provide administrative support for IEP meetings, including scheduling and communication 

- Assist in the development, tracking and reporting of program goals and dashboards

- Supervise the maintenance of accurate records on student progress and attendance

- Assist in coordination and oversight of Extended School Year (ESY) services 

- Develop and maintain key relationships with parents, building administrators, services providers, ITP coordinators, and teaching staff.

- Assist in recruiting and hiring classroom staff, as needed 

- Perform other duties as needed


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) through Maine Department of Education

- Minimum Associate’s Degree or equivalent

- One-year experience in administrative areas 

- Two years’ experience in children’s services or school-related field 

- Ability to work a flexible schedule 

- Experience with data collection and management, Excel, Word, etc. 

- Excellent oral and communication skills
