What does the LOB do?: Support Finance regulatory projects across Controllership, Taxation and Treasury lines of business /portfolios, with a particular emphasis on Tax.
Reason the role is open? Backfill
Team Size? 12 total – with half the team being Project Managers
What project will this contractor be working on? Business PM for Tax project team - As a member of CIBC’s Finance PMO delivery team, the Senior Project Manager will be a seasoned expert delivering highly complex projects from end to end including initiation, requirement gathering, design, construction, testing, implementation and closure. The role works with minimal direction on complex projects, providing expert level knowledge of project management principles, standards, and business consulting through considerable project delivery experience. The Senior Project Manager uses significant latitude to control projects, conduct status reviews, provide business guidance, identify any deviations to the project plan, and recommend corrective action to mitigate potential issues.

Who Will the Candidate Be Working with on a Daily Basis? Working closely with the stakeholder tax team, including the Global Head of Tax and senior directors, as well as stakeholders outside of Tax.

The Senior Project Manager is also responsible for working with the business leaders to establish meaningful and measurable benefits, and tracking the achievement of them throughout the project lifecycle.
The role analyzes situations and data to prepare and deliver executive level presentations to keep management informed of project status, changes, and milestone achievements.

• Highly adept and confident with complex project management – Proactively identify risks to the project schedule and find ways to mitigate them. Monitor milestones; ensure they’re completed according to timelines and budgets. Execute a project plan that strikes the right balance between budget, time, and risk.
• Problem-solving – not only do you execute well on the tacticals of risk, plan and budget management, but you love the challenge of problem-solving and are proactive on this front
• Collaboration and leadership – Help internal partners make informed decisions about the development of programs, products, and services. Coach and mentor your teams as you work toward a common goal. Negotiate deliverables and milestones whenever necessary. Matrix management will be a key skill that you possess given the myriad of stakeholders to engage and bring on board the journey.
• Relationship building and confidence influencing at a Senior level – Importantly, not only are you great at working with your peers and managing and coaching more junior staff, but you are also comfortable engaging senior leadership and can develop trusted working relationships with senior business stakeholders and technology partners

Must Have Requirement
• You can demonstrate up to 10 years’ experience in Project Management.
• You have a deep understanding of the practices, procedures, and principles required to successfully deliver large projects, from planning to implementation – 10+ years
• Ability to analyze detailed concepts, quickly resolve project issues, and assess the advantages and disadvantages of solutions – 10+ years
• Experience delivering regulatory projects for a large bank in any Finance area such as Controllership, Tax or Treasury – Up to 10+ years
• For international projects, flexibility to support clients in UK or APAC time zones
• You have a degree in a related field of study
Nice to Have:
• PMP designation.
• Experience delivering Tax compliance projects or regulatory initiatives (i.e. global e-invoicing solution)
