Job Purpose
The Policy Manager for Prime Loan Against Property (PLAP) is responsible for designing, formulating, and lifecycle-managing the credit policies, risk acceptance criteria (RAC), and underwriting guidelines for secured asset portfolios (specifically Loan Against Property / PLAP) within Consumer Banking Group (CBG) Credit.
The role ensures that the portfolio growth aligns with the bank's approved Risk Appetite Framework while balancing aggressive business expansion goals with prudent credit risk controls, regulatory compliance (RBI guidelines), and fraud mitigation.
Job Duties & Requirements
1. Policy Formulation and Framework Design
- Credit Policy Architecture: Own, review, and periodically update the credit policies, Product Programs (CPP), and underwriting guidelines for Prime Loan Against Property (PLAP) in coordination with business units and senior management.
- Risk Acceptance Criteria (RAC): Calibrate and refine RAC parameters (such as LTV caps, debt-to-income ratios, collateral eligibility, property valuation metrics, and negative area/pincode restrictions) based on macroeconomic trends, portfolio performance, and stress-testing results.
- Standardization: Ensure clear alignment of PLAP policies with overarching Group Core Credit Policies, Risk Appetite Statements (RAS), and local regulatory mandates (e.g., RBI Master Directions).
2. Portfolio Monitoring, Analytics & Quality Assurance
- Portfolio Health Tracking: Continuously monitor portfolio metrics (delinquencies, early-stage flow rates, bounce rates, LTV migration, and Concentration Risk thresholds) to identify emerging credit risks or asset quality deterioration.
- Trigger Management: Implement and monitor Management Action Triggers (MAT) and portfolio caps for PLAP and broader secured lending portfolios.
- Audit & Compliance Support: Partner with Quality Assurance (QA) and Credit Fraud Risk Management (CFRM) teams to review control parameters, address policy/process vulnerabilities, and ensure audit readiness.
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Product Expansion
- New Product Programs (NPP): Collaborate with Business, Product, and Technology & Operations (T&O) teams to evaluate and structure new product variants, digital/phygital journey integration (e.g., automated appraisal workflows, API-driven verification), and alternative scoring models.
- Process Alignment: Work closely with Credit Operations (CBO) and underwriting teams to ensure seamless policy translation into system rules (e.g., One Risk Workbench/ORWB, IBPM workflows) and operational execution manuals.
- Exception & Escalation Governance: Review and decide on complex policy exception frameworks, setting clear delegation of authority (DoA) matrices for credit managers.
Required Experience
Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
Professional risk certifications (e.g., FRM, CFA) are an added advantage.
