Description

Are you a forward-thinking person who is passionate about innovation and eager to create lasting value? Rosenxt is your gateway to a world of opportunities and offers students exciting prospects like you! For our Technology and Research – Scientist department in Wietmarschen-Lohne, Germany, we are looking for a committed student to complete a

Thesis: Manipulator Kinematics Evaluation (m/f/d)

We are looking for creative and team-oriented individuals who want to help shape the future-oriented topics of tomorrow today.

The kinematics of robotic arms are a fundamental consideration in the design of modern industrial and collaborative robots. However, there are currently only limited standardized and quantitative ways to compare different kinematic structures objectively. The aim of this thesis is therefore to develop a concept and/or tool that enables the automated and objective evaluation of different robot kinematics.

Your tasks

  • Research and define suitable metrics for the comparative evaluation of robot kinematics
  • Analyze workspaces, manipulability indices and singularities of different robotic arms
  • Investigate established robot kinematics, such as UR5 and Franka Research, as well as custom kinematic structures
  • Build a database of existing robot structures and their associated metrics
  • Develop a tool for automated analysis and comparison of different robot kinematics
  • Optional: Develop additional evaluation metrics and an approach for selecting the most suitable kinematics for a specific task

What you can bring

  • You are currently in a bachelor’s or master’s degree programme in mechanical engineering, robotics or a comparable field
  • You have an interest in robotics, kinematics, mathematical modelling and technical analysis
  • Ideally, you have initial knowledge of robotics frameworks (e.g. ROS), simulation environments (e.g. Gazebo) and programming languages (e.g. Python and/or C++)
  • You work in a structured, independent and analytical manner
  • You are creative, a team player, quick to grasp new concepts and have strong communication skills

Look forward to

  • We’ll take the time to take you along on our projects and to embed your thesis into our projects
  • You will be supervised and supported by experienced employees
  • Motivated team: Become part of a motivated and highly qualified team
  • Personal and professional development: shape your professional development in a supportive environment
  • Shared challenges: Look forward to mastering the challenges of the future together with us

We‘re looking forward to receiving your complete application, consisting of

  • Cover letter, please write which area and which activities you are interested in, your academic background and your ideas about your work with us
  • Please tell us in your cover letter your desired start date, the duration of your thesis and whether you would like to do a (mandatory) internship before your thesis
  • Relevant certificates

We are looking forward to receiving your application!
