Bilingual Warehouse Associate – 1st Shift
Warehouse Operations, Material Handling & Steel Distribution
Openwork is hiring an experienced Bilingual Warehouse Associate for an established steel distribution company in Houston, TX 77041.
This hands-on position focuses on pulling customer orders, loading and unloading materials, operating forklifts and overhead cranes, and supporting daily warehouse operations.
Qualified candidates must have at least 2 years of warehouse, material handling, or related industrial experience. Experience operating forklifts, overhead cranes, or similar equipment is preferred. Steel industry experience is a plus but not required.
Position Details:
- Location: Houston, TX 77041
- Pay: $17.00/hr | Weekly Pay
- Schedule: Mon–Fri, 7:00 AM or 8:00 AM start, assigned by supervisor | 8-hour shifts
- Shift: 1st Shift
- Employment: Full-Time
- Overtime: Required as needed, including short or last-minute notice
Key Responsibilities:
- Pull and prepare customer orders using pick tickets.
- Operate forklifts and overhead cranes to move materials.
- Load, unload, and organize warehouse materials.
- Verify material sizes, quantities, grades, and heat numbers.
- Handle structural steel, pipes, and steel plates.
- Assist with cutting materials using saws and other equipment.
- Measure materials using tape measures and micrometers.
- Verify order accuracy and complete required paperwork.
- Maintain clean and organized warehouse areas.
- Follow equipment safety and workplace procedures.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of warehouse, material handling, or related industrial experience required.
- Forklift, overhead crane, or similar equipment experience preferred.
- Bilingual communication skills required.
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Steel warehouse or manufacturing experience preferred, but not required.
- Experience loading, unloading, and moving heavy materials.
- Ability to read pick tickets and use basic measuring tools.
- Basic math skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Dependable attendance and strong teamwork skills.
- Comfortable working in an industrial warehouse environment.
- Must be available for short-notice or last-minute overtime.
- Ability to meet pre-employment background and drug/alcohol screening requirements.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Industrial warehouse and steel distribution environment.
- Forklift, overhead crane, and material handling operations.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting.
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs.
- Use of measuring tools and industrial equipment.
- Required PPE and workplace safety procedures.
- Extended hours based on operational needs.
