Overview:

Under the direct supervision of the Landfill Manager, the Landfill Scalehouse Attendant will be a public attendant and perform clerical responsibilities for the operation of the Bountiful City Landfill.

 

Tasks:

• Open and Close Scalehouse at the posted times ready for business.
• Responsibilities include appropriate admittance of public and waste collection contractors.
• Operating scales and Software programs to enter customers into system.
• Charges customers according to content, size and weight of waste.
• Collects payments or bills to landfill accounts and provides receipts to customers.
• Direct public to the correct area to unload recyclable items or refuse.
• Balance daily receipts and prepare bank deposits.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Other Characteristics:

Knowledge of general bookkeeping practices and procedures in customer service.

Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other staff and the public.

Skill in following complex oral and written instructions, policies, and procedures.

Skill in operating a variety of office equipment, including desktop computer, copy machine, telephone.

Work with Microsoft office to complete reports and emails.

Ability to work under pressure and be multi-task oriented.

Applicants should be willing to work independently.

This position will work 25 to 29 hours per week, year-round, various days of the week.

Must be available to work Saturdays.

 

Qualifications:

Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds

Must have a valid Utah Driver's License

Must be able to successfully pass a background check, a driving record check, and a pre-employment drug test
