Summary/Objective
The Quality Technician I, in support of and under the direction of the Quality Manager and/or Quality Engineer Lead, analyzes and solves quality problems, prepares inspection plans and instructions, selects sampling plan applications, prepares procedures, performs audits, analyzes quality data, and applies fundamental statistical methods for process control.
Essential Functions

1. Perform product inspections and testing to meet customer and RBS quality specifications, generating quality documents such as inspection reports, certificates of conformance, and material certification packets for customers.
2. Perform First Piece Inspections, In-Process Inspections, Incoming Receiving Inspections, Final Inspections, and any other inspection/tests, as required.
3. Support the scrap/re-work process for discrepant products, ensuring proper documentation, and corrective action implementation.
4. Operate CMM to ensure accurate product measurements and compliance with quality standards.
5. Support maintenance of the calibration system: ensuring all instruments are calibrated, documented, and maintained according to established procedures. Only utilizing instruments that are within calibration.
6. Participate in Heat treat sample preparation and Micro Hardness testing, as trained and when required.
7. Conduct gage repeatability and reproducibility (GR&R) studies, as required.
8. Support ISO Quality System requirements and assist in conducting process audits to ensure compliance.
9. Assist with the Corrective Action Process.
10. Facilitate the movement of parts and components as required, utilizing appropriate mobility tools, including manual handling, carts, and powered lift trucks.
11. Participate in cross-training others within the department.
12. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to company policies and safety regulations.
13. Any/all other duties as assigned.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle and/or adjust equipment. Moderate reaching, pushing, pulling, gripping, and grasping. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to safety glasses, and steel/composite toed work boots or shoes.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position at 40+ hours per week. Days and hours of work will be determined by management. Typical schedule is Monday through Friday eight (8) hours per day. Occasional overtime, evening and weekend work may be required to meet business demands.
Compensation
Our current hiring pay range for this position is $19.00- $26.00 per hour. This hiring pay range is based on several factors which vary based on position. These include labor markets and, in some instances, may include education, work experience, knowledge, skills and certifications.
In addition to this base pay, Rockford Ball Screw employees are eligible for a bonus. Depending on your position you may be categorized into different tiers in the quarterly or annual bonus plan. Currently, this position is classified as a Quarterly Bonus within the Individual Contributor tier.

Requirements
Required Education and Experience
1. Must be 18 years or older.
2. High School Diploma/GED equivalent or significant relevant work experience.
3. 1-6 years of experience within quality control in a manufacturing environment practicing ISO 9001.
4. Average level of computer literacy, specifically Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
5. Capable of using measuring instruments, i.e. micrometer, calipers, gages, etc.
6. Capable of using required hand tools.
7. Ability to read/write, perform basic arithmetic, and follow verbal and written instructions.
Preferred Education and Experience
1. Proficient use of optical comparators and other tools and equipment used to inspect.
2. Prior experience in reading blueprints.
3. Experience working or performing inspections in a machining environment is a plus.
4. 1+ years of experience with CMM operation (Zeiss hardware and/or Calypso Software preferred)
