Description

The Workforce Training Analyst serves as the lead analyst for workforce training and continuing education data, collecting information from multiple internal and external sources to produce insights that improve student, employer, and program outcomes. This position collaborates with workforce leadership, institutional research, information technology teams, and student services to develop data visualization tools, dashboards, and reporting systems that support strategic planning, program evaluation, labor market alignment, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.

*Collaborate with divisions, CARE teams, career services staff, advisory committees, and academic departments to identify data needs for workforce training and to identify reporting solutions.

*Collect, validate, integrate, and analyze workforce training, continuing education, apprenticeship, and work-based learning data from multiple internal and external sources.

*Work with college leaders to identify trends, course development opportunities, and performance indicators related to workforce training enrollment, retention, completion, credential attainment, employment outcomes, and program effectiveness.

*Collaborate with Information Technology and Institutional Research to identify and guide in the design, develop, and enhance interactive dashboards, reporting tools, and data visualization platforms.

*Track workforce training performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with institutional goals, state priorities, and workforce development initiatives.

*Analyze and share labor market information (LMI), employer demand data, and economic indicators with cross-functional teams to support college initiatives.

*Assist with translating complex workforce data findings into executive summaries, presentations, visualizations, and recommendations that support strategic decision-making.

*Monitor and provide reporting support for requirements associated with Workforce Pell, grant-funded initiatives, apprenticeships, and work-based learning programs.

Uses database query tools and visualization software to extract, manipulate, analyze, interpret, and visualize data trends and patterns and uncover insights.

Participates in data governance efforts, interacting cross-functionally with a wide variety of people and teams to generate and organize methods, plans, and data constructs necessary for effective analytics.

Identify opportunities for data integration and process improvement that support more effective reporting, forecasting, and decision-making across workforce training programs.

Support the college’s economic development initiatives through workforce-related data analysis and impact reporting.

Ensure compliance with institutional, state, and federal reporting requirements, including FERPA and applicable workforce program regulations.

Assist in presenting findings and data insights to various stakeholder groups, including college leadership, faculty, staff, employers, advisory boards, and external partners.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Demonstrated knowledge of community colleges, workforce development boards, continuing education programs, or state workforce systems.

Demonstrated ability to work with student or business information systems, CRM platforms, or workforce training databases (e.g., Colleague, Advansys, Watermark, Salesforce, etc.).

Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to interpret large and complex datasets.

Demonstrated ability to consolidate and analyze data from multiple systems and sources.

Experience translating data into actionable recommendations for operational and strategic decision-making.

Knowledge of data visualization principles and best practices.

Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, college stakeholders, and senior leadership.

Understands the value of developing dashboards and interactive reporting tools using platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence software.

Knowledge of key workforce development performance indicators and program evaluation methodologies.

Familiarity with labor market information tools, workforce trend analysis, and economic impact data.

Ability to communicate complex information clearly through reports, presentations, and visual storytelling.

Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Knowledge of data quality assurance, validation techniques, and reporting standards.

Ability to work independently while fostering collaborative partnerships throughout the institution.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Research Methods, Public Policy, Workforce Development, or a related quantitative field.

One year of professional experience in data analytics, business intelligence, institutional research, program evaluation, workforce development analysis, or related work.

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience using data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.


Preferred 

Master's degree in Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Public Administration, Economics, Workforce Development, Educational Research, Statistics, or a related field.

Three years of experience in workforce analytics, higher education analytics, institutional research, economic development, or program evaluation.

Knowledge of NCCCS performance measures, Workforce Pell initiatives, apprenticeship programs, and workforce funding models.

Experience evaluating educational or workforce programs and developing outcome-based performance metrics.

Experience utilizing labor market information platforms such as Lightcast, NCWorks, EMSI, Burning Glass, or similar workforce intelligence tools.
