Position Summary
The Retail Planning & Analytics team is responsible for supporting Front Store trade fund management, vendor profitability, and financial planning activities. The team partners closely with Merchandising leadership to provide financial analysis, identify profit opportunities and risks, and support category decision making.
The Senior Manager, Retail Planning & Analytics is responsible for managing approximately $500M in annual trade funds in partnership with category leadership while serving as a subject matter expert on vendor funding, P&L management, forecasting, and profitability. This role manages two direct reports and is responsible for coaching, training, and developing team members to build analytical and business capabilities.
The Senior Manager plays a key role in budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and funding management processes while driving process improvements and system enhancements that increase accuracy, efficiency, and transparency. The role also leads end-to-end projects, including business requirements, reporting solutions, stakeholder communication, and training initiatives.
- Lead the budgeting, forecasting, reconciliation, and billing of more than $500M in vendor funding while supporting profitability targets at the vendor and category level.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on vendor funding, profitability analysis, P&L management, and other financial topics for the merchandising organization.
- Partner with Merchandising leadership to identify, quantify, and address profit risks and opportunities.
- Lead funding opportunity identification through rigorous analysis, research, and business partnership.
- Develop and present financial analyses, forecasts, and reporting to support category and business unit decision making.
- Coach, train, and develop a team of two analysts while fostering a high-performing and collaborative environment.
- Prioritize team workload and ensure timely delivery of analyses, reporting, and business support.
- Identify and implement process, reporting, and system enhancements that improve funding management effectiveness.
- Lead special projects, ad hoc analyses, and strategic initiatives related to vendor funding and profitability management.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant experience, with a portion of experience in management consulting, retail, CPG, finance, merchandising, vendor management, sourcing, or a related field.
- Experience leveraging large data sets to identify and communicate meaningful insights that drive business decisions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable recommendations.
- Ability to conceptualize complex quantitative analyses and develop analytical models using Microsoft Excel, Access, SQL, or similar tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively influence management and key stakeholders.
- Experience creating executive-level presentations and communicating insights through PowerPoint and other business communication tools.
- Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships across a broad range of stakeholders.
- Experience coaching and developing analysts or team members to strengthen technical and business capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, work independently, and adapt to changing business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Merchandising, retail finance, retail planning, vendor funding management, or category management experience.
- Experience managing trade funds, forecasting, budgeting, profitability, or financial planning activities.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive process improvements.
- Leadership style that promotes trust, accountability, collaboration, and open communication.
Education
Bachelor’s degree required
MBA strongly preferred; Finance, Economics, Mathematics and/or other quantitative analytical degree a plus.
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$82,940.00 - $199,144.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
