Department: Engineering Management

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: US/Carrollton, TX or Watertown, WI

Reporting To: Vice President, Engineering North America

Description

The Director- Solution Testing, Americas is responsible for leading the testing, validation, and certification of hardware, software, firmware, digital products, and third-party integrations for the North American market. This role serves as the critical link between global product development and North American deployment, ensuring all standard and non-standard solutions are thoroughly tested, verified, and approved prior to release. The Director partners closely with Product Management, Engineering, Sales, and global product teams to establish testing priorities, manage release readiness, drive quality standards, and prevent unvalidated solutions from reaching customers. Additionally, the role oversees testing processes, release communications, solution certification, and the delivery of North American business requirements to global development teams, ensuring product quality, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the NAST strategy, roadmap, priorities, and quality standards in alignment with business objectives and global release plans.

  •  Lead and develop the NAST team through workforce planning, performance management, coaching, succession planning, and resource allocation.

  • Coordinate testing activities, associated costs, and North American release readiness for hardware, software, firmware, digital products, third-party interfaces, fixes, and enhancements.

  • Partner with Product Management, Sales, Engineering, Service, and global product teams to scope, prioritize, and govern North American solution requests.

  •  Establish and improve testing governance, automation, environments, acceptance criteria, certification standards, documentation, and reporting across all validation types.

  •  Serve as the final North American release authority by assessing quality, compliance, readiness, and risk, and approving, conditionally approving, or withholding release.

  • Define and report KPIs for test coverage, defect leakage, cycle time, release readiness, corrective actions, and post-release quality; escalate material risks and trends.

  •  Manage budgets, laboratory capacity, vendors, tools, equipment, and assets supporting testing, demonstrations, proofs of concept, events, integrations, and partner or customer laboratories.

  • Ensure pilot, deployment, and support readiness through release communication, documentation, training, known-issue management, support handoff, rollback planning, and post-release monitoring.

  • Lead development requests and critical defect escalations with global product teams, establishing ownership and driving timely cross-functional resolution.
