Description
ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT
1. Provide nursing care that aligns with the vision, mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of the nursing services and the hospital.
2. Notify the nursing leaders of any situations that impact the quality of care.
3. Obtain ward report and assignment at the beginning of each shift.
4. Perform Daily routine:
· Conducts regular nursing rounds to assess patients’ needs and communicate with them and their families.
· Prepares and tidies beds before arrival of patient’s and linens, and as needed.
· Organizes patients’ belongings and furniture during round.
· Keeps the patients feeling comfortable and cheerful by giving them blankets if they are cold, positioning them.
· Disinfects beds, equipment, mechanical ventilation machines, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), chairs and cardiac tables after used.
· Beds and equipment.
· Keeps the ward area, store and its facilities clean and tidy.
· Assist the patient with filling the hot water flask if needed.
· Answer phone calls and relay messages.
· Attendants to patients call the bell promptly.
· Assists nurses in transporting patients to and from the operating theatre.
· Escorts patients to other services for diagnostic tests and from the unit to other areas upon discharge.
· Dispatches specimens to the laboratory and collects results
· Collect pharmacy and surgical supplies from pharmacy and the store as required to maintain adequate stock levels for operations.
· Send out portable oxygen tanks for refilling or exchange, ensuring a continuous supply for emergency needs.
5. Assists the trained staff in various aspects:
· Carried out of nursing care, such as patient comfort, safety, nutrition, hygiene, admission, transfer, discharge, dressing, intravenous lines, removal of cannula, catheterization, etc.
· Cleans and disinfects the trolley and instruments after use and stores them properly.
· Terminate the mechanical ventilation machines circuit during completion of treatment.
· Records the daily charges for the items used in the ward and updates
the patients’ charges accordingly.
· Maintains the record of intake and output chart for each patient.
· Lifts, turns, and positions patients safely and comfortably using the correct body mechanics.
· Accompanies the consultant in performing procedures and rounds in the absence of trained nurses
6. Attend meetings held by the service.
