Description

This position has the following schedule:
Monday - Friday: 5:00 am to 9:00 am
Sundays are required once a month between September and May
Sundays are required once a month between September and May
Core Competencies:
- Facility Maintenance & Cleaning: Proficiency in comprehensive custodial operations, including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, restroom sanitation, trash removal, and the upkeep of hard-surfaced and carpeted flooring.
- Equipment Operation & Care: Safely operates and provides routine maintenance of commercial custodial equipment, such as vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and other specialized cleaning tools.
- Minor Repairs & Assembly: Performs basic facility maintenance, including carpentry, painting, light bulb replacement, basic mechanical/cement repairs, and furniture assembly.
- Groundskeeping & Seasonal Care: Experienced in outdoor property maintenance, including litter removal and manual snow clearing/de-icing of walkways and entryways.
- Building Security & Operations: Reliable in assisting with building opening and closing procedures, securing facilities, and handling the loading, unloading, and distribution of supplies and equipment.
- Multi-Site Flexibility & Reliability: Adaptable and willing to travel between multiple facility locations/branches with a proven commitment to early morning and rotating weekend schedules.
- High school degree or GED
- Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license and vehicle insurance
- 2 years experience in custodial work; any equivalent combination of training and experience
- Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish
- Provide consistently friendly, accurate, and efficient service to GRPL patrons and staff; ability to make independent and reliable decisions related to patron experience.
- Read and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Make independent and efficient decisions and work without close supervision.
- Work with supervisor and process feedback regarding job performance.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers and the public; work collaboratively.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with diverse groups both verbally and in writing.
- Operate such equipment as a vacuum cleaner, buffer, lawn mower, and weed eater.
- Lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Current building cleaning and maintenance practices
- Safety standards and regulations pertaining to cleaning and maintenance of buildings and grounds
