Description
This is a full-time, direct placement role at CKP Heating & Cooling.
CKP Heating & Cooling is a growing, family-owned mechanical contractor providing high-quality HVAC services throughout Florida and beyond. With in-house sheet metal fabrication, design, construction, and service departments, CKP has built a reputation for delivering exceptional workmanship on commercial, industrial, healthcare, multifamily, educational, and institutional projects.
We are seeking an experienced Lead Sheet Metal Installer / Sheet Metal Installer to join our Florida operations. This individual will be responsible for installing commercial HVAC duct systems and sheet metal components while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications. Candidates with leadership experience will have the opportunity to lead installation crews and coordinate field activities on larger commercial projects.

Key Responsibilities
Sheet Metal Installation
- Install commercial HVAC ductwork, fittings, dampers, hangers, and related sheet metal systems.
- Install rooftop unit duct connections, VAV systems, exhaust systems, and mechanical equipment.
- Measure, cut, assemble, and install galvanized, stainless steel, aluminum, and specialty sheet metal components.
- Ensure all installations comply with project drawings, SMACNA standards, and applicable mechanical codes.
- Seal, insulate, and finish duct systems as required.
Blueprint Interpretation
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, coordination drawings, and mechanical specifications.
- Lay out ductwork according to project plans while identifying and resolving installation conflicts.
- Verify dimensions and field conditions before installation.
Leadership (Lead Installer)
- Lead and supervise sheet metal installation crews on commercial construction projects.
- Assign daily tasks and monitor crew productivity.
- Train and mentor apprentices and less experienced installers.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Foremen, and other trades to maintain project schedules.
- Maintain accurate progress reports and communicate field updates.
Safety & Quality
- Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite.
- Perform quality inspections to ensure installations meet company standards.
- Identify and correct installation issues before project completion.
Material & Equipment Management
- Coordinate material deliveries and verify quantities.
- Maintain company tools and equipment.
- Minimize material waste while maximizing productivity.
- Report material shortages and field issues promptly.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of commercial sheet metal installation experience
- Previous leadership experience preferred for Lead Installer candidates
- Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC ductwork installation
- Ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings
- Experience installing rectangular, spiral, and round duct systems
- Familiarity with SMACNA installation standards
- Ability to operate sheet metal tools and equipment safely
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Valid driver's license with reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial sheet metal installation experience
- Experience leading crews on commercial HVAC projects
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
- Forklift, scissor lift, and boom lift certifications
- Experience with hospitals, schools, multifamily, retail, industrial, or office construction projects
- Experience coordinating with other trades on active construction sites
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
- Ability to climb ladders, work from lifts, and work at heights
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and active construction environments
- Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and stand for extended periods
- Ability to use power tools and hand tools safely
