Children's Health of Carolina is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomist to join our growing pediatric healthcare team in Lumberton, NC.

Full-Time
- Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Approximately one Saturday rotation per month @ Children’s Health Urgent Care (Saturday 9am- 12:00pm)
What You'll Do
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomist, you will:
- Collect blood and other specimens from pediatric patients using age-appropriate techniques.
- Prepare, label, process, and organize laboratory specimens for testing.
- Perform routine laboratory testing and accurately document results.
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment.
- Monitor quality control procedures and communicate concerns to the Laboratory Director.
- Review reference laboratory reports and promptly notify providers of abnormal results.
- Track laboratory specimens to ensure all ordered testing is completed and results are received.
- Explain laboratory procedures to children and families while creating a calm, supportive environment.
- Maintain compliance with CLIA standards and laboratory safety regulations.
- Keep the laboratory clean, organized, and inspection-ready.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient care.
- Serve as courier to reference laboratories when needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements
Required
- Associate degree in Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field or Phlebotomy/Laboratory Technician certification.
- Minimum of one year of laboratory or phlebotomy experience.
- Experience performing venipuncture.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative healthcare team.
Preferred
- Previous pediatric laboratory or pediatric phlebotomy experience.
- ASCP or other laboratory certifications.
- Knowledge of CLIA regulations and quality assurance practices.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity to safely perform laboratory procedures.
- Ability to lift and move light to moderately heavy supplies.
Ability to work in a laboratory environment while following all PPE and safety requirements.
