What you bring:
Licensure:
- A valid California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) license is required.
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED, HiSET) is required; an associate degree in nursing or a social science field is preferred
Experience:
- At least one (1) year of nursing experience is required, preferably treating individuals with mental illness in an inpatient setting. (Clinical nursing school rotations may be substituted for a portion of this experience.)
- One (1) year of experience with medication administration is preferred.
How you will make a difference
- Provides direct nursing care and supervises same provided by all nursing staff on the shift worked.
- Visually and audibly observes, documents in writing, and reports orally or in writing the physical or mental condition to the Program Manager and the attending physician or nurse practitioner.
- Orders, prepares, administers, and documents the administration of medication for clients according to physicians’ or nurse practitioners’ orders. Confirms delivery of all ordered medication from pharmacy on shift worked.
- Responsible for writing a weekly summary on clients as assigned.
- Monitors and maintains appropriate nursing documentation in the medical record for shift worked.
- Prepares, presents, and coordinates or supervises a verbal or written change of shift report.
Division/Program Overview:
- 24/7 inpatient voluntary program
- 16-bed facility for adults (ages 18-59)
- Rehabilitation/recovery services, including substance use rehabilitation services
- Pre-vocational or vocational counseling
- Medication evaluation and support services
