Athabasca University's Human Resources team is currently recruiting for the position of Abilities Management Specialist.
The Position:
Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) or designate, the Abilities Management Specialist, is responsible for the development, implementation and coordination of the Abilities Management (AM) Program at Athabasca University (AU). The position provides abilities management expertise and support to clients and stakeholders and ensures the program promotes a safe and healthy workplace while meeting legislative requirements.
The Abilities Management Specialist plays a key role in fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive workplace by ensuring compliance with human rights, employment, and occupational health and safety legislation.
This role leads the short-term and long-term abilities case management, develops education and awareness programs, resources and tools that promote equity, inclusion, and employee wellness.
Qualifications:
• A minimum of a post-secondary degree in human resources, abilities (disability) management, health sciences or related field (e.g., Occupational Health, Rehabilitation)
• A degree in Nursing, Health Sciences or a related field is an asset
• Relevant certifications such as Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP), Certified Return to Work Coordinator (CRTWC), or CPHR are considered assets.
• A minimum of five (5) years' experience in abilities management in a complex multi-union organization of significant size, complexity & diversity.
