JOB TITLE: Empty Container Handling Machine and Reach Stacker Machine Hyster Driver

   

DEPARTMENT: Yard   

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

 

Handling and placing containers operating a designated empty container handler for receiving, services stacking and dispatching containers and reporting.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Independent Container Repairs (Pty) Ltd may instruct the employee at any time to carry out additional duties or responsibilities, which fall reasonably within the ambit of the job, or in accordance with operational requirements.

Handling of containers	Operating a designated empty container handler for receiving, services stacking and dispatching containers.		Reporting to tracking department during daytime
Reporting	Shift pre-start machine, tacks and yard condition report plus shift end report. Reporting back on all night shift work pertaining to		Mandatory pre-shift and shift end reports are thoroughly completed and placed in slot of admin office door.
Safety		Attending safety briefings, by annual testing and certification, self and collective retrospection.		Buy annual testing and certification undertaken by national accredited inspectors. Documented safety briefings twice annually presented by the lessor.
Machine cleanliness		Washing the machine, cleaning cab interior and keeping		Periodical checks by operations and or depot manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

 

Grade 12 / Matric

 

The following experience is preferable:

Min. one year on the job training and experience as an Empty Container Handling Machine and Reach Stacker Machine Driver.

Depot experience - Min. one year

 

 

REGISTRATIONS: CERTIFICATION OF COMPETENCE

 

Empty Container Handling Machine (Counterbalance)

Reach Stacker Machine

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

 

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small groups in the employ of the organisation.

 

 

NUMERICAL SKILLS:

 

Basic Skills: Ability to add and subtract

 

 

REASONING ABILITY:

 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
