WHAT WE'RE OFFERING:

  • What you'll be making - Starting rate for this role is $27.14per hour (Level 1 – Direct Service), with a wage differential, based on regulation ($30.01 per hour for Level 1 – Direct Service, Regulated):
    • Successful candidates who are registered with one of the designated professional colleges (e.g. OCSWSSW, CNO, COTO, CRPO, CPSO, or CPO) will receive the wage differential for regulation
    • Successful external applicants will start at Level 1, with grid progression based on seniority up to Level 8 ($34.41 per hour for non-regulated, and $37.26 per hour for regulated); for internal applicants, grid level placement will occur as per the Collective Agreement
    • Premiums of $2.00 per hour will be applied for eligible Evening/Night (8:00pm – 7:00am) and Weekend Shifts.
  • When you'll work - 70 hours biweekly; Monday to Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm and rotating weekends
  • Your pension plan –Immediately eligible for optional enrolment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
  • What your benefits will be – 9% in lieu of benefits

HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE:

Designated Primary Worker for assigned caseload:

  • Ensure client’s electronic record and paper file is complete and up to date
  • Ensure goals are being worked toward and program expectations are being met
  • Provide client updates at Team Meetings
  • Create Team Approaches and Continuity of Care Plans

In addition to the responsibilities of the Primary Worker, Addiction and Mental Health Workers will fulfill the following with all residents of Nicole’s Choice;

  • Assist clients to work towards goals as identified in the IRP (Individualized Rehabilitation Plan) based on their strengths, abilities, needs and preferences
  • Motivate and support clients to work towards achievement of their SPDAT goals
  • Create or update client’s Crisis Plan
  • Assist and coach clients in the learning and management/achievement of activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, chores, budgeting, socialization, etc. may be accomplished in groups or side by side in the participant’s apartment.
  • Facilitate and implement resident meetings, scheduled groups, special events and activities
  • Support clients with medication education as needed
  • Provide recreational community outings and activities to enhance client’s quality of life and further connect clients to their community
  • Transition planning with the client, and community supports, to facilitate a seamless transition when participants move
  • Champion each client’s capacity for independent community living
  • Provide health teaching about mental illness and symptom management
  • Assist clients to successfully remain in the apartment
  • Offer and provide follow up support to clients in the community

Assessment and Goal Planning:

  • Assess client’s strengths, abilities, needs and preferences
  • Ensure IRP’s are completed and reviewed according to policy
  • Review and revise IRP’s with clients every six months, or when there is a noted significant change.
  • Regularly solicit feedback from the client and relevant community supports regarding client’s mental health and progress towards his/her goals

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO APPLY:

Police Vulnerable Sector Check Requirements
Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months. Interested applicants who reside in the City of London and are in need of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) are encouraged to apply for one as soon as possible as PVSCs in the City of London are currently taking approximately 4 weeks to be processed and offers of employment cannot be made without receipt of a PVSC.

We require the following qualifications:

  • College diploma or university degree in social services, mental health and addictions, or related field (primary proof of credentials will be required during the hiring process i.e. original degree/diploma or official transcript)
  • Nicole's Choice is a supportive environment for women and gender-diverse individuals who are experiencing or are at risk of homelessness. The program supports a vibrant community of women and gender-diverse individuals, including many who may have experienced gender-based violence. Nicole's Choice is an environment solely for women and gender-diverse communities and therefore, it is a bona fide occupational requirement that the successful candidate identify as a woman, two-spirited, non-binary, transgender, or otherwise gender-diverse
  • Valid Driver’s License: G class required
  • Access to a vehicle required for personal transportation
  • Transportation of clients in personal vehicle required; two million-dollar ($2 000 000.00) liability insurance required
  • Current, satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work regularly

We prefer the following qualifications:

  • First Aid and CPR
  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention and Prevention (CPI)
  • Applied Suicide Interventions Skills and Training (ASIST)
  • Minimum of one year’s work experience in the mental health field
  • Experience working with homeless/marginalized populations
