As a highly autonomous systems engineer with established professional expertise across the full SE development cycle, you will be responsible for owning subsystem requirements and deeply understanding and communicating impacts of those requirements and verifications. You will be responsible for challenging requirements and improving processes where needed. You will drive cross-functional resolution, leading subsystem level specification through verification.

This role requires understanding and supporting CONOP development, ICD maintenance, and developing relationships with designers and operators who own and test the subsystem. You will interface regularly with New Glenn systems engineering, the Launch Ops Architecture team and to participate in gated reviews.

Big-picture systems thinking coupled with being detail-oriented suits this role well. There is much variety across test stands, launch facilities and daily tasking built into the team's scope.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Co-leading assessment and definition of subsystem level solutions for the next generation Launch Pad.
  • Serving as the SE focal for one or more design subsystems; includes immersive collaboration with subsystem designers
  • Verification planning, tracking, coordinating
  • Subsystem test/activation/commissioning planning and coordination with the Operations Team
  • Strategic subsystem lookaheads with identification of emergent concerns/risks
  • Milestone design review support

Minimum Qualifications

  • Robust communication, written and presentation skills
  • Ability to identify and prioritize systems engineering tasks
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering or a related technical field
  • Familiarity with at least two of the following engineering disciplines: structures, fluids, electrical hardware, software, operations, maintenance
  • Ability to support up to 25% travel primarily to New Glenn's Launch Pads in Cape Canaveral, FL and/or to testing sites in West Texas.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships and strengthen our culture of inclusion.
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships with internal teams and external partners to deliver results.
  • Strong critical thinking, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in test and/or launch environment including site (or subsystem) activation, commissioning)
  • Experience with requirement management/tools (such as DNG)
  • Experience with aerospace or similar industry safety standards and verification methods
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mentorship experience in systems engineering or related fields
  • Experience with SE tools includes: JIRA, Microsoft Office products (Project, Visio), Cameo
  • Demonstrated experience using AI for improved efficiencies
  • Master's Degree in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Aerospace)
  • Experience related to cryogenic fluid systems and high-pressure gaseous systems
  • Knowledge of various discipline industry design/safety standards for aerospace and ground support systems.
