Summary/Objective:
The primary purpose of this position is to provide the day to day activities of the housekeeping department. The Housekeeper keeps all areas of the facility in a safe and sanitary condition. This position follows strict policies and protocols.
Essential Functions:
· Responsible for cleaning all common areas inside and outside of the building (e.g. elevators, laundry room, courtyard); this includes sweeping, mopping, dusting, disinfecting
· Clean and sanitize public bathrooms multiple times each day
· May perform terminal cleaning procedures when a resident is discharged or transferred and when isolation is discontinued
· Uses proper chemical dilution for mixing and using cleaning and disinfecting solutions according to prescribed procedures
· Collect and gather trash in courtyard, common areas and offices
· Vacuuming, spot treatment and mopping of common area floors
· Washing inside and outside windows
· Launder linen from assigned rooms daily
· Keep an inventory of cleaning supplies and submit orders to Administrator
· May assist with dining setup, serving and cleanup for meals and snacks, including washing dishes or cleaning kitchen
· Communicate all important information to incoming shift, and work together as a team to ensure the best quality resident care possible
· Respect resident privacy and maintain confidentiality of resident information
· Observe and follow all safety protocols and fire and emergency plans
· Keep work areas and carts clean, organized and orderly
· Engage in appropriate, careful and efficient use of equipment and resources to minimize costs
· Always respect resident rights, and report concerns to a supervisor
· Follow established infection control and universal precaution policies and procedures
· Other duties as assigned
Work Environment:
· Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. comfortably
· Comfortable using and climbing on step stools

· Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; attention to detail
· Basic computer knowledge and typing skills
· Respect for privacy and ability to maintain confidentiality of resident care information
· Willingness to be a team player and provide support to all departments as needed with the intent to provide the best care to our residents
· Bilingual a plus
Requirements
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma preferred
· Two (2) years prior work experience in janitorial, custodian or housekeeping role preferred
· Prior working experience with an elderly and/or disabled population a plus
Expected Hours of Work:
This role may be full-time or part-time. Shifts are available 24 hours a day, seven (7) days per week. May be called during off hours to respond to emergency or unusual situations.
