Description

About the Role

The Director of Domain Context Management builds and maintains the structured business context enabling high-performing AI agents within a defined enterprise domain, such as Design-to-Source, Merchandising & Inventory Management, Finance, or Supply Chain. Working directly with Business teams and key Technology partners, this leader documents how the business works and converts expert knowledge, including tacit judgment, decision logic, and exceptions, into governed, reusable context that technical teams use to build, evaluate, and improve agents. This is a business process role, not a technology role.

This position is based full time in office at our San Francisco or New York hub.

What You'll Do

  • Own the quality, completeness, and readiness of domain context for AI agents, partnering with the Director of Agentic Pipeline Management to meet stage-gate standards
  • Work directly with Designers, Technical Designers, Product Development, and Sourcing partners to capture tacit knowledge, decision logic, business rules, trade-offs, and exceptions through structured interviews, workshops, and observation.
  • Create clear business process documentation (process maps, decision frameworks, business rules, examples, edge cases) that turns how the business works into structured, reusable context for AI agents
  • Build and maintain a domain business context library and knowledge architecture designed for reuse across agents
  • Establish context governance and lifecycle management, including ownership, approvals, versioning, review cadences, and retirement of outdated or conflicting context.
  • Partner with Product Management, Data Science, and Engineering to turn business context into agent requirements and evaluation scenarios; use evaluation results and production feedback to improve the underlying context.
  • Resolve conflicting expert input and flag context-readiness risks early, such as missing experts, conflicting policies, or poor source quality.

Who You Are

  • Business operator with a demonstrated understanding of end-to-end business processes in the relevant domain (design, product development, sourcing).
  • Proven ability to decompose complex processes and expert decision-making and document them clearly as process maps, requirements, or decision frameworks; strong systems thinking
  • Strong facilitation and interviewing skills, with credibility among Designers, Technical Designers, Product Development, and Sourcing partners and the ability to challenge respectfully and resolve conflicting input.
  • Working familiarity with AI agents, LLMs, context engineering, retrieval, and evaluation sufficient to partner with technical teams; deep technical expertise is not required.
  • Proven partnership across Business, Product Management, Data Science, and Engineering, with the ability to create structure, standards, and reusable systems in ambiguity.
  • Excellent written communication, with the ability to produce clear, precise process documentation and reusable knowledge artifacts.
  • Plus: retail or apparel industry experience; experience with sourcing and product development systems (e.g., PLM) and data; experience with governance, taxonomy, or knowledge architecture.
