Description

Truliant’s mission is to improve lives by putting our members first, providing great service and straightforward financial solutions. Our core values of Member Focus, Service, Guidance, Relationships, and Community define how we interact with members to fulfill our mission of improving lives and providing a foundation on which we conduct ourselves.

Our Promise to Our Teammates: Truliant strives to provide all teammates with an enjoyable place to work where they feel valued, empowered and rewarded for all that they do.

Why this role matters

Commercial real estate financing can help businesses grow, strengthen local economies, and deepen long-term member relationships. As a Business Services Officer III, you’ll guide some of Truliant’s largest and most complex commercial relationships, pairing advanced credit judgment with thoughtful, full-service financial solutions. This role is a strong fit for an experienced commercial lender who enjoys building markets, solving complex challenges, and serving as a trusted resource to colleagues and business members.

What you’ll do

You’ll own sophisticated commercial real estate relationships from initial opportunity through closing and ongoing portfolio management. Working with credit, legal, operations, and partners across Truliant, you’ll structure sound solutions, grow profitable relationships, protect portfolio quality, and help strengthen the capabilities of the broader commercial banking team.

Day to day, you’ll:

  • Lead complex commercial real estate opportunities, including borrower analysis, structuring, pricing, negotiation, credit presentation, documentation coordination, closing support, and ongoing relationship management.
  • Build and expand high-value relationships through disciplined business development, market outreach, centers of influence, and collaboration with branch, deposit, treasury, SBA, consumer, mortgage, wealth, and other internal partners.
  • Monitor complex portfolios for performance, covenant compliance, concentration risk, financial reporting, annual reviews, and emerging credit concerns while mentoring lenders and contributing to lending strategy, policy, products, and process improvements.

What you’ll bring

You’re an accomplished commercial real estate lender who can balance growth, member service, relationship profitability, and disciplined risk management. You communicate clearly with borrowers and senior stakeholders, exercise sound judgment with limited supervision, and bring structure to complex transactions.

Required Experience

  • 12+ years of progressively responsible commercial real estate lending experience, including financial statement and collateral analysis, complex loan structuring and approval, management of large or complex portfolios, new relationship growth, and presentation of larger credit requests to senior credit authorities or a loan committee.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a senior resource or mentor to other lenders.

Required Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of investor and owner-occupied commercial real estate lending, including structuring, pricing, negotiation, underwriting partnership, covenant development, collateral analysis, guarantor evaluation, and ongoing credit management.
  • Ability to evaluate borrower financial condition, repayment sources, collateral, credit risk, and relationship profitability and translate findings into clear recommendations and risk-mitigation strategies.
  • Strong business-development, presentation, written and verbal communication, executive-level influence, negotiation, and cross-functional partnership skills.
  • Ability to organize complex work, manage competing priorities, maintain close attention to detail, and complete assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.

Education/Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, in Business, Finance, or a related field.

You should also be comfortable influencing without direct authority, working with team members at different levels of the organization, adapting priorities as business needs change, and maintaining a strong commitment to excellent member service.

What sets you apart

You don’t need to check every box, but here’s what will help you thrive in this role:

  • A master’s degree.
  • Advanced commercial credit training, a financial analysis certification, or equivalent expertise in complex commercial lending, credit risk management, and relationship profitability.
  • Extensive experience in a financial services or business-development environment.

What you’ll get

We believe in supporting our team members both professionally and personally.

In this role, you can expect:

  • The opportunity to shape complex commercial relationships that support Truliant members and strengthen the communities we serve.
  • Meaningful autonomy, senior-level market visibility, and the ability to influence commercial lending strategy, products, policies, and process improvements.
  • A highly collaborative environment with access to partners across credit, treasury, SBA, branch, mortgage, wealth, and other areas of the credit union.
  • Opportunities to grow as a market leader, technical resource, mentor, and trusted advisor within Truliant’s member-focused culture.
