Join Cross Country Education as a compassionate Moderate/Severe Special Education Teacher in Manhattan Beach, CA, creating individualized learning experiences focused on communication, functional academics, and meaningful support for students in a specialized classroom setting.
Position Overview
- Provide specialized instruction in a Moderate/Severe Special Day Class (SDC) setting for students in TK–5, focusing on functional academics, communication, life skills, and independence.
- Develop and implement highly individualized, modified curriculum and instructional plans based on each student’s unique learning and support needs.
- Conduct assessments, monitor student progress, and develop and implement IEPs, including participation in IEP meetings and collaboration with families and multidisciplinary teams.
- Create a structured, supportive classroom environment that promotes engagement, communication, independence, and successful participation in school routines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field preferred
- Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential with authorization in Moderate/Severe Disabilities or Extensive Support Needs (ESN)
- Experience supporting students with moderate to severe disabilities in an SDC or similarly intensive special education setting, including functional academics, communication, and adaptive/life-skills instruction
