Prophet Homes is a privately owned, rapidly growing investment real estate company specializing in acquiring properties from homeowners and connecting them with real estate investors.

With operations across six states and continued expansion into new markets, we manage multiple operating entities and a high volume of financial transactions associated with real estate closings.

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to lead our accounting and financial operations, strengthen internal controls, and develop scalable financial processes that support our continued growth.

 

About the Role

 

The Controller will oversee the company's accounting operations, financial reporting, cash management, and internal controls across multiple business entities.

This is a highly involved leadership position requiring someone who is equally comfortable managing day-to-day accounting responsibilities and partnering with executive leadership on financial planning and operational improvements.

The ideal candidate has extensive multi-entity accounting experience, strong NetSuite expertise, and the ability to establish efficient financial processes within a growing organization.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Accounting & Financial Reporting

- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes across multiple operating entities.

- Prepare accurate financial statements, consolidated reporting, and financial analysis for executive leadership.

- Oversee bank reconciliations, general ledger activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations.

- Maintain accurate cash-basis and accrual-basis financial reporting as required.

- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, commissions, and independent contractor payments.

- Coordinate with external CPAs regarding tax filings, financial reviews, and audits.

 

Cash Management & Internal Controls

- Oversee daily cash management, bank account activity, and cash-flow forecasting.

- Manage high-volume wire transfers and ACH payments associated with real estate transactions.

- Ensure strict compliance with dual-authorization procedures and established payment verification protocols.

- Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and reduce financial risk.

- Identify opportunities to improve financial accuracy, efficiency, and operational procedures.\

 

Financial Planning & Leadership

- Develop and maintain company budgets, financial forecasts, and cash-flow projections.

- Provide financial analysis and reporting to support executive decision-making.

- Establish scalable accounting policies and procedures to support expansion into additional markets.

- Partner with executive leadership to identify financial risks and opportunities for operational improvement.

 

NetSuite Administration

- Serve as the primary administrator and internal resource for NetSuite.

- Manage user roles, permissions, saved searches, workflows, and approval processes.

- Identify and implement system improvements that enhance reporting accuracy and accounting efficiency.

- Maintain accurate financial data and reporting across multiple entities.

 

Qualifications

 

Required

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

- Approximately 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant responsibility for financial reporting and month-end close processes.

- Demonstrated experience managing accounting activities across multiple entities.

- Strong working knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls.

- Hands-on experience using NetSuite.

- Experience managing cash flow, bank transactions, and payment approval procedures.

- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and operate effectively in a fast-paced, growing organization.

 

Preferred

- Active CPA designation; CMA or active CPA candidates will also be considered.

- Previous experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or similar accounting leader.

- NetSuite administration, system configuration, or implementation experience.

- Experience in investment real estate, title, escrow, lending, or other transaction-intensive industries.

- Experience developing accounting processes and financial controls for growing, multi-entity organizations.

 

Compensation & Benefits

- Base Salary: $170,000–$200,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.

- Annual Performance Bonus: Target of 10%–15% of base salary, based on established performance objectives, including timely financial closes, successful external CPA reviews, and compliance with internal cash controls.
