Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal / Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to join its team. This position is in Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel program. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.

What you will get to do:

The selected candidate will be embedded in the GN&C department and program integrated product teams, providing Systems Engineering support for the Guidance, Navigation, and Control Subsystem, to ensure sound engineering procedures and products; including, but not limited to, requirements, interfaces, architecture, and Software integration.

Candidate will report to the GN&C Assignments lead and is responsible for building system engineering artifacts needed for Software Design Review, Critical Design Review, Functional Configuration Audit, and System Qualification/Verification Review

The role entails coordination with higher level system engineers and design engineering to produce the needed documentation and set baseline system documentation in Cameo and DOORs and push artifacts through engineering approval and configuration management

Additional opportunities allow for communication with the customer and subcontractors to align requirements to the contract constraints and subcontracts to requirements.

This position may be filled as a Principal (level 3) or Sr. Principal (level 4) Systems Engineer.

Basic Qualifications:

Principal Systems Engineer:

• Bachelor's Degree in STEM with 5 years of experience, 3 years of experience with master’s degree, 0 years of experience with PhD.
• Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years
• Must be able to obtain Special Program access in a reasonable amount of time as determined by the business needs of the company.

Sr. Principal Systems Engineer:

• Bachelor's degree in STEM and 8 years of experience, 6 years of experience with master’s degree, 4 years of experience with PhD.
• Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
• Must be able to obtain Special Program access in a reasonable amount of time as determined by the business needs of the company.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with aerospace development
• Experience with systems product development
• Understanding of the following specialty areas: nuclear surety, cybersecurity, flight safety
• Working understanding of basic control system theory and vehicle management systems / guidance system design
• Work experience in one of the following disciplines: guidance & control systems, inertial sensors, navigation systems or vehicle management systems

This position's standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
