Description
About the Role:
Restaurant owners in the US work rigorous 12-14-hour days to make sure that their business runs successfully. Between the kitchen, the staff and the customers, there is very little time left for marketing, even though today’s diners discover restaurants on Instagram, TikTok, Google and Yelp long before they walk through the door.
However, marketing a restaurant well is a full-time job. Owners need to plan content, post consistently and keep their brand looking the same across every platform. Because most restaurant owners are not marketers, their social pages go quiet, their posts look inconsistent, and they end up either paying expensive agencies or giving up on marketing altogether.
What if every restaurant had one dedicated person who knows its brand inside out, plans its content, and keeps its online presence active and on-brand, every single week?
That is what we have envisioned for the Marketing Expert role. Marketing Experts act as the marketing partner for a portfolio of restaurant owners, owning their content calendars, social media presence and day-to-day marketing communication. Marketing Experts will work with and directly report to the Marketing Team Lead, and collaborate closely with our design team to turn each restaurant’s story into content that brings customers through the door.
What will be your responsibilities?
Your responsibilities can be divided into 2 tiers: One-time tasks and continuous tasks.
Your one-time tasks will include:
1. Learning each restaurant’s brand, menu, audience and cuisine by studying its brand book, existing social pages and local competitors;
2. Setting up and auditing the restaurant’s social media profiles (bio, highlights, links, hours and contact details) so they are complete and consistent across platforms; and
3. Building a relationship with the restaurant owner during onboarding to understand their goals, promotions and key dates, and to establish enough trust for them to let you run their marketing.
Your continuous tasks will include:
1. Content Calendar: a. Plan and maintain a monthly content calendar for each restaurant, built around menu highlights, promotions, holidays and local events; b. Write clear creative briefs for the design team and review designs before they go live; and c. Share the calendar with the restaurant owner for approval ahead of each month.
2. Social Media Management: a. Write captions, hashtags and calls-to-action; b. Schedule and publish posts, reels and stories across Instagram, Facebook and TikTok; and c. Keep profiles, highlights and pinned content up to date.
3. Client Communication: Act as the main point of contact for the restaurant owner on all marketing matters: share updates, gather feedback, and collect photos, videos and offers from the restaurant.
4. Reporting: Track reach, engagement and follower growth, and share a monthly performance summary with the restaurant owner, including what’s working and what to try next.
5. Brand Consistency: Make sure every piece of content follows the restaurant’s brand book, including tone of voice, colours, fonts and visual style.
6. Content Writing: Write copy for the restaurant’s website, flyers and posters, including menu descriptions, promotional offers and event announcements, in the restaurant’s brand voice.
