The Distinguished Technical Program Manager leads complex, large-scale programs by defining goals, managing cross-functional dependencies, and driving clarity amid ambiguity. This role requires expertise in end-to-end technology solutions, system architecture, and program execution while mentoring teams on best practices. The position emphasizes proactive risk management, stakeholder engagement, and continuous process improvement to ensure successful delivery. Leveraging technical and domain knowledge, the manager aligns program outcomes with business objectives, fosters effective communication, and accelerates timelines through scalable, repeatable workflows across multiple engineering teams.
About the team:
The Marketplace Tech & AI Strategy team leads enterprise-wide initiatives by integrating technology, operations, and investments through a unified platform. The team establishes sustainable governance and operating rhythms to advance projects independently, focusing on strategic planning, risk management, and data-driven investment decisions. Aligning technology strategy with business goals, it drives lasting transformation. Emphasizing effective project management, financial oversight, and stakeholder collaboration, the team ensures streamlined delivery and continuous improvement across Walmart’s marketplace technology landscape, fostering operational excellence and value creation.
What you'll do:
- Enterprise-Scale Execution: Lead the strategy, planning, and end-to-end delivery of company-wide, multi-year technical initiatives , spanning dozens of organizations and hundreds of engineers.
- Strategic Technical Partnership: Partner with Senior Engineers and Senior Architects to shape technical strategy, high availability, performance, and alignment with delivery timelines.
- Ambiguity Resolution & Plan Execution: Take ownership of highly ambiguous "0 to 1" initiatives where no precedent exists.
- Systemic Optimization & Workflows: Identify and dismantle organizational silos and systemic friction points.
- Executive & Stakeholder Communication: Act as a trusted advisor to the executive team and board members.
- Mentor & Elevate: Serve as the champion for the TPM discipline.
What you'll bring:
- Experience: 15+ years of experience driving complex strategic programs, managing cross-functional outcomes, and leading technical program management—including 2+ years operating at a Principal, or equivalent highly-senior Individual Contributor (IC) level.
- Technical Depth: Extensive expertise in system architecture, software development, and infrastructure design.
- Analytical Problem Solving: Demonstrated skills in data-driven decision-making and proactive risk mitigation
- Proven Scale: A track record of successfully delivering massive-scale, mission-critical software or infrastructure programs from inception to global deployment.
- Influence & Alignment: Exceptional stakeholder management skills with a proven ability to lead without authority across multiple VP-level organizations

The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00 - $260,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
