Director of Kids Ministries

The Director of Eagle’s Landing Kids leads preschool and grade-school ministries at Eagle’s Landing First Baptist Church (ELFBC), helping children know and follow Jesus. This director develops leaders, partners with parents, and creates safe, welcoming environments where children learn Scripture, build relationships, and live on mission.

This role works with the Discipleship Pastor and other ministry leaders to connect children and families to the church’s disciple-making strategy of Gather, Group, Give, and Go.

Children’s Discipleship and Teaching

·         Develop a connected discipleship plan from infancts through grade school that helps children understand the gospel, grow in biblical            knowledge, pray, worship, give, and serve others.

·         Select and evaluate curriculum for biblical faithfulness, alignment with church beliefs, and age-appropriate teaching; prepare and coach teachers.

·         Guide conversations about salvation and baptism with care, involving parents and pastoral leadership and avoiding pressure for premature decisions.

Weekly Ministry and Special Events

·         Oversee preschool environments, Sunday LifeGroups, Elevate kids worship, and Wednesday Saturate/Splash, with age-appropriate teaching and dependable coverage.

·         Lead assigned responsibilities for Camp 323, CentriKid, family fun nights, and other events; evaluate each activity’s discipleship purpose, cost, and effectiveness.

Leadership & Team Development

·         Recruit, screen, train, schedule, encourage, and evaluate volunteers; provide regular coaching, spiritual care, and clear expectations.

·         Lead and coach assigned ministry staff and age-group leaders; develop leaders who share responsibility and build sustainable teams.  Address concerns promptly and graciously.

Parent Partnership and Family Care

·         Equip parents as the primary disciple-makers in their homes through practical resources, conversations, and opportunities to learn together.

·         Communicate consistently with parents and volunteers; follow up with guests and absent families and connect them to the wider church.

·         Coordinate transitions from nursery to preschool, preschool to grade school, and grade school to student ministry.

Child Safety and Welcoming Environments

·         Administer church child protection procedures, including volunteer screening, appropriate supervision, secure check-in and release, and emergency readiness.

·         Ensure nursery and preschool teams follow church procedures for hygiene, diapering, feeding, allergies, illness, and communicating care needs to parents.

·         Train volunteers to recognize and promptly report safety concerns through required procedures; maintain appropriate boundaries and protect sensitive information.

·         Partner with parents and appropriate church leaders to support children with disabilities, additional learning needs, or behavioral challenges; prepare volunteers for safe participation.

Community Engagement and Mission

·         Build relationships with local schools and community partners and mobilize volunteers to serve in ways that welcome children and families.

·         Equip children and families for age-appropriate outreach and service, connecting ministry opportunities to the mission of God.

Administration and Collaboration

·         Prepare and manage the ministry budget, calendar, supplies, and facilities needs; coordinate with other ministries and steward                      resources wisely.

·         Maintain accurate attendance and volunteer records; report progress, needs, and stories of life change to the Discipleship Pastor.

·         Evaluate spiritual growth, family engagement, guest follow-up, volunteer health, and safety readiness; establish improvement goals.

Participate in staff meetings, church-wide priorities, and other duties assigned by the Discipleship Pastor.
