Youth Centered: Every organizational action or maneuver is designed to directly impact and benefit the youth we serve. We value and prioritize the youth perspective, making decisions with a focus on their needs and well-being, rather than adult convenience.

  • What that looks like in this role: Builds youth voice, choice, belonging, creativity, and leadership into curriculum decisions and measures success by the quality of young people's participation and experiences.

Essential Functions:

  • Design and curate developmentally appropriate curriculum, lesson plans, activity guides, project-based experiences, enrichment units, and implementation resources for elementary, middle school, high school, and Teen Clubhouse populations.
  • Translate the BGCSL Program Design Model into practical tools, templates, planning guides, pacing resources, and site-level practices that support consistency while allowing age-, interest-, school-, and community-responsive customization.
  • Develop and maintain an annual Curriculum and Program Content Calendar aligned with fall, spring, summer, and intersession programming, including BGCSL Must Do's, targeted programs, enrichment activities, and organization-wide initiatives.
  • Maintain an organized, accessible, centralized curriculum library; review resources regularly to determine what should be maintained, revised, replaced, or retired; and evaluate external curricula and promising youth-development practices.
  • Conduct site visits, gather feedback from staff and youth, provide technical assistance and modeling, identify implementation barriers, and develop practical adaptations that strengthen curriculum implementation and youth engagement.
  • Partner with Learning & Development to create and facilitate training on curriculum implementation, project-based learning, youth engagement, and effective activity facilitation, and support pilots before broader implementation.
  • Embed youth voice, choice, cultural responsiveness, inclusion, differentiated participation, and meaningful opportunities for creativity, exploration, leadership, and demonstrations of learning throughout program content.
  • Use observations, participation data, youth and staff feedback, NYOI results, and other available information to evaluate effectiveness, recommend improvements, and contribute to BGCSL's Continuous Quality Improvement process and Program Design Model evaluation.
  • The Coordinator maintains a strong working partnership with the Director of Program Design & Youth Impact and collaborates with the Managing Director of Programs, Area Directors, Program Managers, Learning & Development, Compliance and Partnerships, school and district partners when appropriate, and the MTSS Youth Support Specialist. The role provides functional expertise, curriculum support, and technical assistance but does not supervise Area Directors, Program Managers, Youth Development Professionals, or other site-based staff. Staff performance, site operations, and management concerns are communicated to the Director of Program Design & Youth Impact for appropriate follow-up.
