Overview
Electric Boat NAVY Facility Engineering & Training (Department 701) is an innovative architectural/engineeringgroup specializing in design, installation and maintenance for NAVAL Submarine Facilities and Trainers located at NAVAL Submarine Base New London. We are currently seeking a Program Rep with experience in new construction, rehabilitation, institutional and infrastructure projects.
The successful candidate will oversee Columbia projects affecting the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appearance of government facilities located at Naval Submarine Bases in Kings Bay, GA and Bangor, WA. Knowledgeable in commercial facility drawings pertaining to NAVY trainer/classroom demolition, NAVY trainer facility outfitting (including architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection layout), and trainer installations for use by commercial contractors. Familiarization of Navy Training Documentation requirements involving New Submarine Trainers is essential. In this role, communication is critical with internal/external customers, consultants, and contractors on a daily basis.
The candidate must be capable of handling multiple tasks for concurrent projects while recognizing priorities. Tasks include working directly with the customer regarding specific requirements. Coordinating with finance to apply the most efficient use of fiscal funds; establishing and maintaining overall project budgets and financial status reports; developing project and program schedules; preparing informal and formal project proposals, general correspondence along with engineering reports. The work will require close interface with senior levels management of multiple government agencies.
The candidate must encompass leadership and decision-making skills under restricted deadlines. Extensive communication with architects, government officials regarding new projects, governing codes, invoices, and meetings. In addition, interface with senior level management at PMS 397, UWSTR, Submarine Learning Center (SLC) and host training commands.
Travel to other sites will be required on an as-needed basis.
Qualifications
Required:• Bachelor of Science required• Minimum of 2 years working with Naval Facilities and utilizing REVIT• Ability to effectively read facilities construction drawings• Proficient in Bluebeam Revu• Capable of traveling multiple weeks each month
Preferred:• Previous experience working with NAVY submarine trainers• Previous on-site construction management experience managing multiple contractors• Basic understanding of applicable government regulations and instructions• Able to work independently and collaborative• Meticulous attention to detail
Skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication skills• Public Speaking• The candidate should be knowledgeable of Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Project• Familiarity with commercial building codes is a plus• Work without supervision and begin projects independently
