Markon is seeking a Network Engineer to support an Intelligence Community client in Chantilly, Virginia. This position will develop, engineer, integrate, and deploy technical solutions within a dedicated mission network, working as part of a small, mission-focused team of network and systems engineers. The Network Engineer will focus on scalable virtualization and infrastructure solutions, systems integration, lifecycle management, network monitoring, and solving complex collaboration and data-protection challenges.
NOTE: This position requires infrequent CONUS travel to various sites, as directed by the client.
Responsibilities
- Develop robust, scalable IT and network solutions within a dedicated mission environment.
- Design and build virtualization platforms and associated infrastructure systems.
- Engineer technical solutions addressing complex collaboration and data-protection requirements.
- Integrate, test, and deploy systems into mission environments.
- Perform full lifecycle management of systems, including building, deployment, maintenance, and sustainment.
- Monitor mission networks and identify technical or operational issues.
- Implement IT and cybersecurity best practices across network and systems environments.
- Support highly available infrastructure and apply appropriate deployment and implementation concepts.
- Analyze complex technical situations, determine appropriate courses of action, and respond effectively when problems arise.
- Work independently and collaboratively within a small team of network and systems engineers.
- Maintain current technical training and tradecraft as technologies and mission requirements evolve.
- Share technical knowledge and expertise with other engineers and team members.
Qualifications
Required:
- An active TS/SCI with an FSP (Preferably from this client) is required to be considered.
- Bachelor’s degree related to the technical discipline and at least 6 years of relevant experience; OR
- Associate’s degree and at least 8 years of relevant experience; OR
- No degree and at least 10 years of relevant experience.
- Recent hands-on experience, within the last 3 years, with Nutanix virtualization technologies.
- Recent hands-on experience, within the last 3 years, with directory services technologies such as Active Directory and LDAP.
- Recent hands-on experience, within the last 3 years, with network and application load balancers.
- Hands-on experience implementing IT and cybersecurity best practices.
- Demonstrated understanding of high-availability technologies and associated implementation and deployment concepts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical environments.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Willingness and ability to travel on an infrequent, as-needed basis, primarily CONUS.
Desired:
- Experience designing, building, deploying, and maintaining sensitive networks.
- Experience supporting web-hosting platforms such as Microsoft IIS, Apache, and Tomcat.
- Experience with database technologies such as MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
- Experience building, deploying, and maintaining Citrix Application Delivery Controllers (ADCs).
- Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
- Experience with SIEM and security analytics technologies, such as Splunk, packet capture (PCAP), and NetFlow.
Salary Range
USD $150,000.00 - USD $180,000.00 /Yr.The Markon pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
