Description
Under the general supervision of the RECC Director or designee, the Emergency Communications Systems Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the integrity, accuracy and functionality of the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and associated databases to support efficient emergency communications operations.
Work is primarily in an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; handle or feel; reach with hands or arms; and talk or hear. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds. Clarity of vision at short distance required. Evening, holiday, and weekend work is required. Extended hours, irregular shifts, and occasional overnight travel are required. May be on call for emergencies and staffing shortages. Work may involve exposure to excessive noise and distressed individuals. Incumbents may be asked to work any day of the week (including weekends) and any hours of the day or night in special circumstances.
Conditions of Employment:
Selected candidate must submit to and pass a County paid pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screening. Additionally, selected candidate must submit to and pass a county paid criminal background screening. Selected candidate must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Class D Driver's License as incumbent shall be appointed to drive a County vehicle during the performance of his/her duties. Must be free of any convictions or any other crime involving moral turpitude. Prior criminal convictions may or may not disqualify applicants. Candidate must obtain and/or maintain all certifications required.
- Implement and assist in the design of CAD and GIS software for RECC.
- Updates RECC mapping information based on new data received from supporting GIS departments.
- Supports the integration, configuration and ongoing management of CAD related technologies and applications with the RECC technology ecosystem to ensure reliable system performance and interoperability.
- Inputs information and maintains the Computer Aided Dispatch system and the databases used in the assignment of units and apparatus on emergency calls.
- Coordinates with the City of Santa Fe and Santa Fe County GIS to evaluate and maintain compliance with policies regarding mapping and addressing information for all Santa Fe and Santa Fe County residents.
- Establishes and maintains a process by which all mapping and addressing information is received and entered in all RECC applications in a timely and efficient manner.
- Configures, maintains, and updates phone software systems as needed.
- Assists the RECC Director and the RECC Deputy Director in developing, running, and ensuring the accuracy of data collection reports; aids in resolving issues resulting from incorrect information contained in the CAD system.
- Acts as liaison to all RECC client agencies regarding all geo-file information and response configuration.
- Assists in onboarding and offboarding employees for RECC and all client agencies.
- Attends meetings and provides reports as necessary for all agencies served by the RECC.
- Assists in the maintenance of GIS road centerline, address and boundary data.
- Attend various meetings, seminars, workshops, training classes, and assists the RECC Director or Deputy Director with various projects as needed.
- Coordinates with response agencies to ensure a strong working relationship with RECC.
- May assume duties of dispatch when assigned and answer caller to evaluate if police, fire or EMS are needed with EMD pre-arrival instructions; input call for service in CAD system.
- Knowledge of emergency dispatch systems, operations, and policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of modern office practices.
- Skill in training and supervising.
- Ability to operate various word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database software programs.
- Knowledge of Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD), GIS, NG-911, NCIC, RMS, and Public Safety Dispatch systems.
- Ability to accurately type a minimum of 35 wpm.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and critical deadlines.
- Ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to perform work accurately with strict attention to detail and follow-through.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and the public.

- High school diploma or GED.
- Four (4) years of experience working in a public safety environment and knowledgeable in public safety telecommunications systems and general operations of a computer aided dispatch system (CAD).
- Must possess or obtain a New Mexico DPS Basic Dispatch Certificate within twelve (12) months.
- Must possess or obtain CPR, NCIC, and EMD certifications within twelve (12) months.
