We're looking for an experienced Mortgage Loan Closer to join our lending team and play a critical role in bringing approved residential mortgage loans across the finish line. In this position, you'll serve as the final quality checkpoint before funding, ensuring loan files are accurate, complete, compliant, and ready to close.

If you're highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable managing multiple deadlines, and enjoy being the person others rely on to make sure everything comes together, we'd love to meet you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Manage an assigned pipeline of residential mortgage loans from approved status through closing and funding, keeping files moving efficiently and meeting contractual and regulatory deadlines.
  • Review approved loan files and identify outstanding conditions, including title requirements, liens, insurance, private mortgage insurance, and other items required prior to closing.
  • Coordinate with Loan Officers, Processors, Underwriters, title companies, settlement agents, attorneys, insurance agents, taxing authorities, and borrowers to obtain outstanding documentation and resolve issues.
  • Prepare and verify accurate closing figures and documentation, ensuring information reconciles across the Loan Estimate, Closing Disclosure, title documents, and other closing materials.
  • Prepare and input closing figures and documentation in Encompass for Portfolio, Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, and other Bank mortgage products.
  • Review and transmit complete closing packages to title companies and settlement agents in a timely manner to support compliant Closing Disclosure delivery and TRID-required timelines.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for Loan Officers, Processors, title companies, settlement agents, and borrowers regarding closing requirements, figures, documentation, and timing.
  • Coordinate with internal partners to resolve last-minute conditions, discrepancies, and changes prior to closing.
  • Complete compliance reviews and independently research and resolve issues identified through Mavent (or successor) compliance review tools.
  • Disburse loan proceeds, prepare closed loan files for shipping to investors and warehouse lenders, and input and verify daily wire transfers.
  • Maintain accurate records and protect the confidentiality of sensitive borrower and Bank information.
  • Provide exceptional service to both internal partners and external customers throughout the closing process.
  • Provide cross-functional support for loan processing duties across mortgage files, HELOC files, and auto loans as needed. Comprehensive training on the processing side will be provided.
  • Complies with all applicable banking laws and regulations, including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, and related anti-money laundering statutes; and, federal consumer protection legislation and regulations.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • At least three (3) years of related experience an/or training in residential mortgage lending, covering the full loan lifecycle from origination through closing and shipping.
  • Direct experience with Encompass or a comparable Loan Origination system is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage a full closing pipeline with a high degree of accuracy and accountability.
  • Strong communication skills - both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing closing deadlines across multiple files.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to regulatory accuracy and timeliness
  • Ability to complete ongoing investor and federal/state regulatory training is required as a condition of continued employments
  • Solid math skills with the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, payments, discounts, commissions, loan-to-value ratios, and percentages.
  • Comfortable working with loan systems (Encompass experience is a plus).
  • Typing speed of at least 45 WPM and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

WHY JOIN US?

  • Flexible hybrid work model (Tuesday - Thursday in office, Mondays and Fridays work from home)
  • Opportunity to work across the full mortgage closing process and make a direct impact on the customer experience
  • Supportive, team-oriented environment where your contributions are valued
  • Opportunity to grow your skills and build a meaningful career in mortgage lending

If you're an experienced mortgage professional who takes pride in accuracy, compliance, organization, and exceptional customer service, we invite you to apply and become part of a community bank where your expertise makes a difference!
